Isn't 2nd visible on the previous photos? (Page 1 of this thread)
BTW - was planning to replace lay shaft, front and rear bearings, both lay gear/shaft needle bearings, and the needle bearing between first and third motion shafts for good measure.

Re: Wilkinson's 20/50 oil
The absence of information about API rating on the label implied but didn't confirm the spec of the oil, so I thought I'd ask the question to confirm one way or the other and to quote the very helpful Hayley at Wilkinsons' Customer Service: " Thank you for taking the time to contact us with you...

If it's hard then use a Cobalt drill rather than HSS. You'll be amazed at the different cutting ability of Cobalt drills.

Re: Gearing up for a refurb
Ah, thanks hadn't appreciated that it was not a Minor box up to this point. Also tells me what reverse switch I need to get (I'd like to fit a reversing light at some point anyway).
Will probably replace the tailshaft seal.
Interesting point on the ratios.

Re: Gearing up for a refurb
Still can't get a decent photo but to me the teeth on the gears look reasonable. There appears to be some play on the input shaft, i.e. I can wiggle it laterally, but I don't know if it's normal/within tollerance. So, what next? I'd rather only go to the effort of installing the box if it's going to...

They've also got the BS, RAL and Pantone colour charts on their site, some of those colours may be close.

Re: Handpainting?
Excuse me for hijacking this post a tad.
Rustoleum only seem to do a limited set of colours, is it possible to get suitable paint in standard BMC colours? If so, anybody know where please?

Sorry, but I'm confused. I though first gear was the second from the left in the first set of pictures, or are you referring to the corresponding cog on the layshaft?

Gearing up for a refurb
OK, so some while back I acquired a spare gearbox for the princely sum of £35.22...including delivery....from Newcastle by Tyne  I have no history for the box so I need to check it out and decide whether it's fine as-is, needs a refurb or is only good for parts, so I come seeking wisdom :o I to...

Tredegar House Vintage and Specialist Rally
I received my invite to the 34th Annual Vintage & Specialist Car Rally will take place at Tredegar House Newport on Sunday 21st September.
Sadly it's being promoted as the 'Last' one. It's a shame as it's been a fantastic show in the past.

Re: underground cable
I used 6mm SWA cable to absolutely guarantee that there would be no unacceptable voltage drop (>5%) over the ~35m length, even at the highest usage that the remote MCBs can handle (6A lighting + 16A sockets = 22A x 230v = 5.06kW). I will never get near that level of usage but the extra cost of the n...

Lots of factors involved here like distance, type of cable, etc.
TLC has a calculator that gives an approximation.
