Re: Rough idling on 1967 Minor
You could check if it's fuel starvation that's the problem by giving it a squirt of 'Easystart' up its trumpet before trying to start it. If it fires up immediately, as it should, then falters and/or cuts out, then there's your answer.

Re: STORM FORCE COVER
If it were me I'd be concerned about the damp-retention properties of wool and be considering one of these as a base layer instead, possibly with a thin sheet of polythene between them, as Stormforce covers, despite what the vendors claim, do indeed let water through in heavy downpours:- https://www...

Re: Brakes
As, I believe, you are already well aware Grumpy, this is indeed a conversion that I've done on my car and it has certainly made a noticeable improvement to the braking performance though not, so far, as dramatic as I'd hoped. I suspect that, in my case, the new linings are taking rather longer than...

Re: SU carb dashpot chamber crack
I blocked the end and blew through (just using my lung power!) and that does not suggest it is cracked... Just a thought and I realise that now it's reassembled it's no longer of relevance in this instance but, instead of blowing through the tube, if you had sucked with all your might then held the...

"On a side note, a commute of only 3/4 a mile each way will not do the car any favours!"
I think he probably means 'three to four miles' rather than threequarters of a mile.

Re: Poor starting after a few weeks
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. All good advice! I had some running issues just after I got the car (caused by my over enthusiastic choke use!) Did you carry out an oil change immediately afterwards? If not, you ought to crack on with it as over-enthusiastic use of the choke such as you admit to will...

Braking News
In a recent episode of Wheeler Dealers they bought a 1965 850 Mini that had lain unused for twenty odd years and carried out a light restoration to make it properly fit for use in today's traffic conditions. One of the upgrades that Elvis (Mike Brewer's current mechanical wonder-worker) treated the ...

Coincidentally, I read, this morning, a recommendation for Milton's Sterilising Fluid as a sure-fire method of removing heavy tea stains from mugs and teapots. Might well be worth a try on your header tank too.

Re: Brake fluid moister tester at Lidl
I've never known anyone in my family to ever seriously consider regular brake fluid changes. I reckon my Dad probably drove his cars for 10-years without ever changing it. Wow! You only need to know that brake fluid is hygroscopic (unless it's DOT 5) to realise that it inevitably collects water fro...

Mmm, I wonder - could it be https://twitter.com/f1elvis?lang=en ? I know that he runs a very nice Minor pick-up.
