Just my luck, Boris is in bits on stands and there's a 5 - 6 week wait on L/H swivel / kingpins !!
Can't be helped, also the sun is out ! so you can all assume that when it starts raining i'll have Boris on the road again !

Re: Good Old Trunnions Again
Yes the Spax tele damper fitting on Boris Minor is a bolt on job but the lower mounting is a thick plate that fits into the rear of the lower minor suspension arm. It's then bolted through the 2 lower minor arms and the outer end has a clamp arrangement which I wouldn't say has any stress on it at a...

Re: Good Old Trunnions Again
New swivel pins ordered ! Also found that there was absolutely no resistance in the passenger side damper. The car mind you has got telescopic dampers also but I've bunged some thin oil in there to see if it leaks. Does anyone know what oil should be put in the dampers when the car also has telescop...

Re: Good Old Trunnions Again
Cheers Phil. As I've just bought the full set of new trunnions from BM I'll get 2 new swivel pins from them too. I assume they use the same parts in their complete pin and trunnions setup.

Re: Good Old Trunnions Again
The detected wobble isn't with the kingpin back on the car, just the trunnion screwed onto the kingpin on the bench.

Good Old Trunnions Again
Bit of advice needed. Front suspension stripped for clonk searching !!!! Bottom trunnion pin very loose in bushings due to worn pin, so I feel clonk has been found, so new top and bottom trunnions ordered from BM for both sides (oh and seals from Declan !!). King pin threads cleaned and look ok, ass...

Re: Dubious age cars for sale
Yes there have been a few, I think the 'rat look' moggy is still on, sellers claims is a 1958 and boasts about tax and mot exemption and also says sills need doing !!!! The body shell is NOT a 58 and a car with dodgy sills wouldn't pass an mot. So really it shouldn't be on the road yet last time I l...

Re: Anyone have any idea of this bodyshells age??
Well it's not got 59 lights but they could've been changed or different wings nor trafficator slots by the looks of it. Need to see under the bonnet really for heater hose and also dash for switch spacing maybe.

Re: Half a door?
Well I think the half rear door is a great idea if you need to carry a small horse or large dog. Just remove the seperate top part for them to stick their head out n job's a good'n and fanny's ya uncles' grandma twice removed !!!!!!!!!!

Re: LED BULBS
Not heard of any issues with replacement LED bulbs and it's something i'm looking into myself. All i've seen so far is obviously they lower the current draw on the wiring which is a good thing. I think all the major moggy parts suppliers have seat belts for every and any occasion ! My 2 door has had...

Re: More meddling from the EU
What also gets up my nose are all these 20mph zones now. From what I know it's done to save injury to padestrians / children !! yet people my age use common sense and also were taught how to cross a road ! (bring back the green cross code man !) are they not taught this anymore? Plus the 20mph has a...

Disc Brakes
Hello all. Old Boris minor was restored/updated about 7 years ago by a previous owner and they fitted a disc brake set up. Now I've done a fair bit of searching and can find 2 main kits, 1 using marina (solid) and the other using ford (vented). Old Boris has solid discs and the modified marina hubs ...

Re: Engine mounts
I had this exact problem with previous owners new engine mounts. I got new mounts from BullMotif and the change in the noise/vibration level was obvious, so much better with the BM mounts.

Yes I use sleeves over the tangs then also make sure they are bent round the loom and not just used to crush it !!! Only had Boris for just on 12 months and only found this due to removing an unreliable alarm !!.

Re: Wiring gauge
Cheers, the wires have now been replaced. I was confused as to what could have been added to the rear sidelight circuit to have overloaded the wire. I found that a floor repair (weld) had caught the cable right at the point where it was clamped to the body with the metal tang. As the rear sidelights...

Re: No Paperwork
I'd be very careful with Cyprus law as it certainly isn't UK.
People have thought they own their own newly built house out there till the owner of the land turns up maybe years later and says "thank you for building me a house on my land now sod off !!!!!
Oh and in more thsn a few cases wins.
