Re: I'm back!

Hello, Dominic's back. That does look dangerously close to BS 356 Golden Yellow which adorned the PO engineers' vans from about January or February 1969 to the end of production. The PO had previously used a darkish green colour and the change was reputedly to stop them being crashed into when they ...

Re: Useful for parts????

And as it didn't sell at £50 it's presumably on its way to the scrappie now. Please be careful if dealing with a burnt out car of any make - any parts made of 'Viton' (can include brake pipes etc) can go into a sticky state which sticks to the skin and can eat into the flesh and the only cure is amp...

Re: car tax heads up

If you develope a good relationship with your MoT tester, it becomes a good annual oportunity for all the work that you or your mechanic(s) have done during the year to be thoroughly checked for safety. I make a point of taking all my vehicles (2,3 and 4 wheeled) to a garage that is not involved in ...

Re: Where is the dipstick?

A neighbour with a large modern touched mirrors on a narrow road, not uncommon in rural areas. The new mirror, with heater, adjuster and indicator, cost over £300, plus several hours work to strip the door, fit and connect it. It then wouldn't work. The car had to be taken to a main agent and plugged...

Where is the dipstick?

Bloke down the road (our type of person - his transport is an MGB roadster) has just bought a new Volvo for his missus who is a District Nurse and needs something reliable (well, new, anyway). When she got it home he opened the bonnet (well you would, wouldn't you). Loads of black plastic to hide th...

Re: Tips on removing paint from Plastic object

RainX produce a range of "anti-fogging" products which are designed to stop your windscreen / the bathroom mirror etc from fogging or steaming up. It would seem it also removes paint. If you read the write ups on Google, some people think it is the best thing since sliced bread (in the ant...

Wanna bet? Osselli will have squeezed any profit out of it! (and with rods and pistons where they are, it's never going to run very well)!

Re: A Million ????

All three badges are 1000. There was a light-mauvey colour around then - can't remember what it was called but it was an off-white - a lot less colour than the millions. I had one (not this one I might add).

I do believe that you have just been honoured by the 4th posting (in 11 years) from the MMOC's "Branch Liason and Public Relations Officer".
Don't overdo it, Rosie, or they'll be getting you to join facebook and twitter as well (whatever that is all about).

Re: Window Rubbers

Most of the major suppliers (ESM, BullMotif, Moss, Charlie Ware etc etc) have them in stock. If you know anyone who goes parachute-jumping, parachute cord is, without doubt, the best thing in the world for fitting rear (and front and side) screens - it's the right size and VERY strong (it has to be,...

Re: Tyre rating

This question is about modern car tyres. I know the tyres on an 'axle' must be same size - but what about speed rating?? If one is 205x55x16 91H and the other is 205X55X16 91V - is that ok ?? The normal rating for the car is 91H - the 91V is therefore a 'better' tyre - is that allowed? Forget about...
