Re: Electrical issues.
Thanks for the replies! Turns out it was the fuses. Dirty connections & one fuse being very loose in the holder. All working for now but I might invest in a new fuse box & fuses just to be sure.

Electrical issues.
So it started off with an intermittent fuel sender but I’ve now realised I’ve no indicators, horn or brake lights working!?
Where do I even start? Could it be a bad Earth somewhere?

Fuel sender
So I had the petrol tank out cleaning it. Fuel sender stopped working once I re-fitted the tank. Then I fitted a secondary earth & it started to work again. Worked for a few days & now it has stopped again. Any ideas? Sticking? 🤷♂️ fuel level was about half a tank before it stopped working ...

Re: Lockable glove box
Thanks for everyone’s opinions. I never even thought that a locked glove box would poke someone’s interest to break in. Now of course I don’t want to be able to lock it to keep extreme valuables in. It’s more so for casual passers by when you’re at the shops with the top down etc… chuck a pair of gl...

Lockable glove box
Can you buy locks for the glove boxes? Picked up a wee 69 convertible & would like to be able to lock the passenger glove box. I wouldn’t be putting anything too valuable in it but if I was nipping to the shops would be handy to lock items in it.

Re: Carburettor problems
Thanks for the help! Got it sorted. Think the float needle was sticking aswell as the piston itself. A good strip down & a clean seemed to do the trick.
Car drives really well now & pulls nicely in every gear. So I’ll leave well alone & see how she goes on a long run some evening.

Carburettor problems
Took the carb off to give it a good clean & found fuel laying in the inlet manifold. I’m sure this isn’t Normal so what would be the cause of this? I believe this to be the trouble with my idling & staring etc.

Re: Fuel sender
Maybe I’ve put too much fuel gasket round it for it to Earth. I’ll try putting a new Earth from the body to one of the screws on the sender.

Fuel sender
Removed the fuel tank from my minor to clean it out & paint it. Removed the sender unit as I was giving the tank a good clean. It had previously been working perfectly. Now everything reinstalled the sender doesn’t work.
Any ideas? Do they need to be earthed?

Re: Issues
Thanks for those pointers. I never thought of the valve clearances, I’ll check those out & I need to get a feeler gauge to do the points correctly. Anyone have some suggestions on cleaning out the fuel tank? I drained it from underneath & blew out all the fuel lines including cleaning the ca...

Opinions on wheels
Thinking of upgrading my stock wheels to the JBW 5.5x14 with Yokohama tyres.
Does the added width cause any extra rolling resistance or decreased fuel consumption?

Re: Issues
Update!!!! I went back over everything I changed to make sure they were working as they should. The car is running a lot better now which is great, I haven’t had the chance to take it a good long run yet but all seems good. I noticed it was running very rich before so perhaps it was flooding itself....

Re: Issues
The car had been parked up some 3-4 years so it’s part of an ongoing recommission to make it my summer daily. Because the parts are relatively cheap I decided to do a full service with new parts. (Thinking it would be more reliable long term). I removed the inline filter & cleaned the points. Ca...

Re: Issues
Thanks for everyone’s suggestions. I will go back & do the checks recommended starting with removing the inline fuel filter. Only reason I fitted one is that the car had been sitting a good few years & the tank have had some sediment in it. I did drain the tank but the filter was an extra pr...

69 convertible engine issues. So I changed the points, condensor , rotor arm , distributor cap & all new leads. New plugs. Put an inline filter on the petrol pipe to the carb. Fuel pump ticks nicely. Car sometimes starts sometimes doesn’t. When she starts & drives, goes well for 2-300 yards ...

Fuel is fresh. Though it could be mixed with some crap that was left in the tank. I’ll check those & report back. Thanks

Help
Just bought a 69 convertible. Fuel pump wasn’t working but I have cleaned the points & breathed some life back into it. Clicks away nicely. Carb is getting fuel & idles nicely too but once I got to drive the engine dies. Took the carb off & cleaned it out with cleaner & the air line ...

Classic minor exhaust ‘fart’
I have a 948cc & the exhaust seems to be really quiet compared to my sisters 1098 traveller. I’m looking to get that classic Morris minor fart on decel, my car is running only one silencer in the middle of the car. Would changing the exhaust for a new sport system give me the sound I’m looking? ...

Steering wheels
What’s the standard size steering wheel on a minor? I’m looking to fit a slightly small one. Like a wooden one with the holes in from an mgb or something similar. I don’t want to go too small though that the steering is heavy.
