Re: 998cc Short Engine Build
Life got in the way in between my last posts about this and today - when I found myself unpacking everything in a new storage unit rented in cooperation with some other nutters (MX5 not mine). The engine has been sitting for some time and has some surface rust on the unpainted areas like where the m...

Re: Morris fastback
Looks like it would have raised the top speed a little by being more aerodynamic!
Variety being the spice and so on, given infinite resources and a coachbuilder I'd definitely try it.

Perhaps the OP prefers to drive backwards so it is in fact toe-in.

Decent numbers I think. I got around 160psi on a tuned engine with slightly raised compression.

Re: Wider wheels
Refurbishment costs being what they are now I think you're better off buying new unless you plan to do it DIY. A friend of mine recently paid north of £350 to get five wheels painted . If the ride is that bad you might be resting on your bump stops, need some bushes and/or have poor tyres on already!

Re: The General State of Parts
Might be an idea for clubs to start building up a database of CAD files. With modern 3d scanning (such as the Quixel/Epic Reality Scan for iOS and Android) it would also be possible to photograph OEM parts and convert them to 3D with a phone, of course there may be some clean up and dimension check...

Re: The General State of Parts
On the positive side the price of custom moulded rubber parts from non-specific suppliers, and services such as laser cutting and CNC machining have come down considerably. My suspicion is that in future fewer suppliers will be providing parts for more car models on an on-demand basis, for a higher ...

Steve Baimbridge of Mostly Minors, mentioned here a couple of times, sells a metal bracket to achieve the same as the yohurt pot.

Yes, the only financially reasonable approach might be a slow DIY job to get it solid and functional and then perhaps ship it off for professional paint.

Great story, is it still up near Edinburgh or the borders?

Non-Minor but Morris - E-Series
I wonder if any of the knowledgable folk here have experience of the E-Series in Maxi 1500/1750 and/or Landcrab 2200 form. I have a Morris 2200, a seized 1750 Maxi engine sitting the garage, and a silly idea of making my 2200 a five speed. Thing is I've undone all the bolts I can see but the sump/tr...

I don't know about part numbers but I've only ever been able to get the right part from David Manners.

Do I understand correctly you tried rotating the dash pot top? Is the needle properly aligned in the jet, it could be rubbing.

There do seem to be two shades of Trafalgar blue, or BU37, though? I've come across a lighter and a darker one.
Re: Sills
When ever someone asks about getting such work done in Scotland, my advice is to take it down south - this is based on my own experiences from when I lived in Scotland. Of course, if you do that then hopefully your gearbox won't fail on the way south resulting in having to pay for a private car tra...

75 seats are lovely, nice one. On the big side if you're ever having people in the back perhaps.
Re: Sills
Very roughly, when I last got quotes it was ~£600-800 a side. Could end up being £3-4k if the whole floor is coming out to find something solid to weld to.

Re: what seats fit
Off the top of my head on this common subject: - Newton Commerical do "Suffolk" seats that are adjustable and comfortable. - MGF/TF seats fit well and can suit the car okay. - Ford Ka seats fit but I don't think they look nice myself. - Procar-90 are great but need to be shipped from the U...
