Re: Wolseley 1500 parts

Hi, As a Riley 1.5 owner I can confirm that 'Wolseley 1500 Spares' does have a vast wealth of parts for the 1500 and the 1.5, probably the most extensive stocks in the world! He only sells parts on Ebay occasionally. The chap behind it is Andy Bradley, who I have met and bought from many times durin...

Re: Tie Bar Castle Nut Size?

Hi, The (original) tie bars on my 1965 Riley 1.5 (surely identical, at least threadwise, to a similar vintage Minor) are 3/8" UNF. I know that for sure as i recently refurbished mine by removing them, running a 3/8" UNF die down them & fitting new nuts as per above. Incidentally, I had...

Re: Can you recommend a grease gun

Hi, I use a Wanner one, a Swiss make I think, and probably not now available new. Really excellent quality. Like the original poster I previously had a 'modern' one which was complete rubbish. My father still has a Wanner gun he bought for his Minor in the 60s, still use it for his MGBGTV8, so I bou...

Yes the pedal effort is quite heavy, which accounts for why many Riley 1.5 owners upgrade the brakes by fitting a servo, rather than a disc conversion.

Some interesting comments, wish there was a Riley forum as lively as this! My response to some of the above points; the fixed brake pipe is a faithful (Kunifer) copy of the shape & routing of the rusted steel original. I have no experience of working on a Minor so can't comment on the way theirs...

Thanks again for all your replies, and the clear conclusion is the oozing out of grease is probably an intended feature. Got both sides almost done now. I found the new swivel pins on e-Bay. Just had a quick look now and there's currently a new one for sale. As a Riley 1.5 owner I'm well practiced a...

Thanks for the replies so far- fantastic response in such a short period of time! I also considered the potential weakness of the 2nd hole but then read about the existance if 'standard' pins with both holes drilled. Also I concluded that the weakest point is probably where the top hole is drilled a...

Have I got faulty trunnions?

Hi, I'm new to the forum, and in fact I don't have a Minor, I am in the process of restoring a 1965 Riley 1.5. As many of you will know it shares several parts with the Minor, which certainly helps with obtaining spares. My question relates to the top suspension trunnions, which I have just replaced...
