The Far North of Lewis, Outer Hebrides

Saw this split windscreen saloon outside a house just off the A road up to the Butt of Lewis.
The numberplate is KST 187. The vehicle is outside a house on the right hand side of the road, heading up towards the top of the island.[frame]Image[/frame]

Re: insurance with members discount- HELP

I had wondered what sort of deal FJ gave and, after insuring a car I bought last year with them , shopped around a bit more in 2010. I had the same experience, FJ were more expensive than competition for the same cover and I'm now with Adrian Flux. I found that you had to be patient with them settin...

Re: Wrong chassis number for year?

Don't see why not, for only £5.oo what is there to risk? After all, its the vehicle history they record, so if there have been any changes along the way in registration number, owner, type, hopefully, they should all show up. I was led into the request via the excellent article in the last magazine ...

Re: Wrong chassis number for year?

Thanks again Thanks for everyone for the helpful replies, in the end, I am certain that my car is an original convertible, not a replica: The original VIN Number which is given on the first DVLA registration certificate corresponds to Touring or Convertible, not saloon. If anyone was going to massa...

Re: Wrong chassis number for year?

Thanks for these replies, they sort of confirm what I thought but the idea of the supplier garage not being too fussed about accuracy hadn't struck me. I had the car checked over by an engineer when I bought it as a valuation was needed for insurance purposes. They dispelled any doubts I might have ...

Re: Wrong chassis number for year?

BAFFLED ! I've just got a reply from DVLA to my V888 request and am over the moon with a service which, for only £5 , has given the full ownership history of my car. Its a 1967 convertible and the VIN Number fits this as it begins with MAT5D, followed by the seven digit production number and an M. H...

Re: White saloon in frozen fish box, fishtown of Usan(Montrose)

Wow! We're really pleased to have played a small part in getting this car back on the road where it belongs. The saloon didn't look as if it needed too much work, the other vehicles must have been well hidden. If there are ant tractor enthusiasts out there , this place was a goldmine for them too wi...

Yorvik Branch- Rally at Ryedale Folk Museum

Just a note to thank everyone at the Branch who was involved in last Sunday's Rally at Hutton - le - Hole. This was our first ever trip to a rally and we particularly appreciated the master class in convertible hood manipulation. OYN 607F and my wife both enjoyed the day, and are looking forward to ...

MM Motorhome?

What was it? Whose is it? We were driving up the A1 near Durham last Saturday morning when we saw what looked like a motorhome cabin tacked on top of an MM pickup coming down the other way. The vehicle was painted red and white and, unfortunately, as it was travelling South on the other carriageway,...

Alarm over,I have now been able to confirm with an independent engineer that this is a 'real' convertible. The confusion appears to have been caused by a change in number plate somewhere along the way. The chassis number M/AT5 D1200561 M ties up with it being an original. I'll post some photos as so...

OYN 607F

Hi there , I did indeed buy it from Charles Ware but had been led to believe that it was an original convertible not a replica and it's still posted on their website as such. Will have to follow this one up. Thanks for the information. In any case, it's a lovely little car and came all the way from ...

ray, thanks for the welcome, there was noone about in the wonderfully named Fishtown of Usan when we passed by so no chance to follow up. There were several old freezer containers used for carrying fish littered about the place. Someone had obviously decided that one would make an ideal garage to pr...

White saloon in frozen fish box, fishtown of Usan(Montrose)

We saw this G reg white saloon in an old frozen fish container at the harbour in Fishtown of Usan just outside Montrose. Apart from some rust along the side of the body where the red stripe should be it didn't look in too bad a state. The harbour would also be a goldmine to any tractor lovers out th...
