Re: Need Help please - Newbiw
The need to declare SORN - if I remember correctly this only applied to cars laid up after January 1998. If this minor has been stored since 1990 the DVLA won't hassle you until you ask for a new logbook (V10). The condition of the floorpan will probably determine if the car is economically repairab...

Re: Exhaust Burbling/Farting
The parping got louder and more tinny sounding when I had my stainless steel exhaust fitted a few years ago!

Ah well, a car can't be on the road that long without having some bangs and scrapes. View the imperfections and bodges as living history, and fix them yourself if you can't live with them.....

Well, out in Gracie tonight and coming the other way down a bank was a young girl in a little yellow polo going far too fast. She lost control, spun a few times and smashed up the kerb pointing into a hedge! If I had been about 5 seconds earlier I think she'd have hit us! So, it just goes to show i...

However - Hamilton did start one behind Button - and finished in front! But maybe he had nothing to lose - where Button really HAD to make sure he finished somewhere in the points - a DNF would have been a real disaster ! Ironically, as things turned out Button would have still claimed the WDC had ...

Hi bmc. The jacking points on my car are going rusty and starting to move about if I jiggle them (i never use them). The crossmember itself is solid. It looks like old jacking points were welded badly onto a new crossmember a few years ago. Can I just cut off the jacking points and paint what's lef...

Yes, they should be garaged but mine's been living outside and used all year round for commuting etc. and the wood hasn't suffered noticeably in 15+ years. BUT, I do have to rub it down and revarnish it every summer. Chertsey Minors sounds like your nearest specialist. I've never dealt with them so...

Now that is cheap motoring! I've calculated the cost over 10 years of Minor ownership and 27,000 miles as roughly £4,000 which includes doing my own servicing and the brakes, plus some welding and a gearbox change. Some people spend that kind of money in a few seconds when they drive their new car ...

Both these remarks sounded familiar but for the life of me I couldn't remember where from, and then I remembered its from the immortal Bodge It and Scarper Manual on how to avoid using the right tool for the job even when its readily available. I assume this was the standard BT employees handbook e...
