The rubber seal mates onto the propshaft so I dont think there will be a problem with the chunk missing ,give it a go.

p.s you will have to take propshaft off ,I did mine by using axle stands on the rear axle and doing it that way so I would certainly try a new seal first before going into any expence.

I just changed seal on mine and it stopped leak ,so dont think you will have a problem as mine was pouring out.

managed to get a gearbox ,is there any difference in the colour the one I got is gold colour. I would of tried the stp but the noise really is bad and still noisy on tickover.

yes I thought about that and not being as young as I used to be and no help it is the obvious solution.will try and put some photos up as I go along.

on second thoughts I think I will take engine and box out cos I will be able to check condition of clutch etc and less scrambling under car ,thanks for all your help ,appreciated.

hi,yes drained old oil and filled with engine oil ,4th gear is fine but lacks power in 2nd and 3rd and is quite whiney in those 2 gears.

ps,just done all mine recently and the difference was noticeable imediatley,when you drain front dampers bounce the car to get all the old oil out ,on the rear ones I found it a lot easier taking them off to fill them,hope this helps you.

Hi,you can use sae 30 or sae 40 ,you can get this at motor factors or gardening shop ,it is used in lawn mowers motor cycles etc .

hi all,took my minor in for mot ,first time I had drove it since restoring it and found the gear box was very noisy in 2nd and 3rd gear,is it time for a new box,by the way it passed with no advisorys ,very happy owner.

I have had this car for 2 1/2 years and was wondering if anyone knows any history about it,I have spent 2 1/2 years restoring it to mot standard,put it in for mot and failed on n/s trunnion so will be on the road shortly ,any info greatly appreciated.

hi ,yes it should be seam welded for added streangth and to stop the ingress of water.

Hi,yes what I done was took piston out, undone lock nut at the jet a couple of turns pushed piston into jet and tightend lock nut which must of centerd needle into jet and bingo sorted,now runs great.

parcel force is a joke,lost a gearbox on me.

finally fixed it today ,turned out to be needle not centred in carb and was the same on other 2 carbs lol,if this is any help to anyone,nezza.

will check valve gaps 2moz ,been 4 days on it now and dont seem to get any where ,but wont give up lol,must be geting to old
