As regards grease:- Use general purpose grease for all grease nipples - available from all good motor factors. Only the front suspension/steering has the ability to be greased. If your connectors are badly corroded cut them out and replace If they are just tight you can warm up with a hot air gun and slide off or slit the PVC or rubber sleeve and pry the side of the connector free from the bullet with a small screwdriver or blade. Mine has special spike headed 'coach bolts' fitted there on the top hinges ...they fit snug in the slot and cant rotate...you can make your own quite easily with a mig welder and suitable studding or threaded bolt and some flat bar

Yes very common...
Just use some hylomar or heldite sealant on the threads into the head and lightly grease the studs where they pass thro the alloy thermostat housing..
