Re: 8" front brake drums
This makes me wonder if any of the 'transitional' Minors made during that time were fitted with 948 engines and 8 inch drums as standard... something else to look out for at shows... I'll make sure I wear my anorak as I lay down to look underneath the car

Rally 2014
On the 18th May 2014 the Young Members Register will be holding its 2nd rally at the Gaydon Spring Classic & Cream Tea Run to be held at the Heritage Motor Museum, Gaydon. It is hoped that the Young Members Register will be forming the centre stand (provisionally agreed but waiting confirmation,...

Re: FJ Insurance
I've not heard anything about price hikes since the takeover but I shall keep my eyes and ears open, be interesting to know if this is the case.

Re: DATE FOR YOUR CALENDER - 5th November Footman James Open Day
This is a shame, I was trying to rally the troops!
Means I can probably make it next year though. An event just isn't the same without a nutter in an argyle jumper is it?

Re: Car show theft - E type
Surely the main club has some sort of list/database of cars that have been reported as stolen that could perhaps be shared amongst the members?

They are certainly members of the young members register! Or at least the owner is!

Re: drive chain or drive belt
The timing chain I fitted a couple of weeks ago (which wore really badly, really quickly) was making what can only be described as a hollow knocking sound. As it was so slack it seemed to be hitting the timing chain cover. Never heard a noise like it before but as it was the only part changed recent...

Re: looking for my Grandads Morris Minor
Hi You absolute star thank you so much :D :D :D :D and i really appreciate the time and effort you have taken to find this information.I guess i will have to contact DVLA to ask for owners name unless there is data protection. I am so happy with the head start knowing it is still roadworthy . Thank...

Re: Poor Quality Parts - Please report your experience
To add to that I have invoices and I've even kept the dodgy parts! The supplier did say that they could potentially offer a refund is I sent the parts back. They would have to send them for inspection though apparently before a refund could be given and the cynic inside me says that any results from...

Re: Poor Quality Parts - Please report your experience
Brake cylinders... replaced all for pattern parts after two failed (I know, I know but I was a poor student at the time) had one pop 2 months ago so replaced for lockhead ones. While fitting these the threads stripped out of two of them when only doing them up FINGER TIGHT :o 2 weeks ago I replaced ...

Does anyone have a list of what registrations the Met force used? For example is ELB 584J a Met car or just a London registered car... I ask for a reason ;)

Re: Timing Chain Purchase
Yes, and it has become very expensive in recent months. Regards Declan I noticed the price! It's BMC's fault for recommending it all the time  It just annoys me that the simplex chains aren't any good (though what can you expect for ~£4?). Wish I had left the old chain on there now with its sl...

Timing Chain Purchase
Anyone any recommendations on where to get a simplex timing chain? Not a couple of quid special like I bought from one of the well known suppliers as couple of weeks ago as part of a timing chain kit. I'd only done about 500 miles and it developed a rattle! (Actually more of a hollow knock as there ...

Re: Spotted today.
Been away on the Norfolk broads for a week, saw a few classics but Minor-wise I saw a bright yellow pick-up (GYM 589J, I think) with what I think was a jaguar mascot on the bonnet parked up along the broads not far from Norwich. Also a tatty traffy blue saloon (TAX XXXG or TAR XXXG) driving towards ...
