success, the white grease worked a treat! Indeed i am fitting front pins first, i think its just the lubrication issue, and the fact ive only had a bit of time when i get home from, work, i will strike tomorrow with renewed enthusiasm :-)

no need, the pin is not et far enough in to the plate to prevent the rocking :-), i literally only need to get the infernal thing a few more mill through so i can get the nut on the other side, however this is without the aid of the grease that is white.im sure with all this advice i will get there ...

dean i will 'bear' that in mind :-) i now have the problem of getting the new bolt back on, i cant get it allthe way through, i put one bush inside the spring and the other on the bolt, ive tried using a g clamp i have but i cant seam to get it far enough through to get a nut on it :-( damn car.... ...

they are described as king pin upper and lower joints in the Haynes manual, if yours is the same as mine on the routine maintenance section page 10 you have an image of them image number 7 top and bottom, the routine maintenance tasks are good in this manual to follow, so i suggest you start at the ...

got it, on order :-) cut through the two little bolts on the flat plate, Order new pins and plates, then whack the bejeebers out of it until it's free. ( it helps to pretend its your mother in-law). Got the old spring off. So much for a days work, gonna have to oil up the push bike for the week. :-)...

its that front spring hanger bolt, i'm trying to remove it without mashing the treads, but i don't think i'm gonna manage it.... its always one sodding bolt, when everything else is flapping about grrrrr

all i can say is after looking at the manual, and decided to tackle this job, it can seriously damage your health..... :-) so, I nearly cut my finger off with the grinder, then hit my thumb with the lump hammer, and to top it all of i squirted wd40 directly in my eye... and guess what the old spring...

well thanks to everyone on this forum, shes running very well now, im not sure if im entirely happy but im sure with some tweeking i can get her even better. next job is to take a look at the brakes... :-) bit of juddering on the steering wheel from the front, she has marina disks and i think there ...

Mine has a ford flasher fitted, I don't know what its from but If you want any info off it, i can get my head under the bonnet and read off the part numbers. Agreed it doesn't look original, but it works! you could always hide it somewhere other than its original location.
