Mend and Make Do: Morris Minor MM or Series 2 glove box lid

Hi, I just thought I'd share this simple fix with you. I have a spare Morris Minor MM or Series 2 glove box lid, which I bought off eBay, hence why I have no idea of it's origins. I refused to pay allot for it as it had one major defect..... A snapped off hinge (no idea what happened to the other h...

Re: Driving a Failed voluntary MOT vehicle?

Hi, This is a veritable minefield for historic vehicles! If owners are found by the public at large to have had 'voluntary' MOT tests, failed them and then continued to drive their vehicle without a retest to show that the fault has been fixed and the car is 'officially' roadworthy again, then what...

Solo rear window reinstatement

Hi, Well, the chap who said he'd be happy to help has popped over to China for his work. Fair enough. Rather than hang around I thought I'd have a go myself. First though I did a little research and came upon a very useful video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa48n2VfYv0 In this he use...

GPO telephones van owners: Possible item for the back of your vans?

Hi, I spotted this on eBay and thought of those on here with ex GPO telephones vans wanting to restock them with period items, how about an original black Bakelite phone in its box? They appear to have two for sale. Link to one below. Best wishes, Mike. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/167471263773?_skw=...

Re: Gearbox upgrades

Hi, Parts availability was what was always pointed out to me, with it being better for the 1098 gearbox than the earlier ones. As for retaining originality, well unless you can find a good secondhand one -- remembering they are all "good" or "were working absolutely fine when it was ...

They're aluminium rather than steel I believe, though I stand to be corrected.

Bonnet moulding breakage

Hi, Some on here may realise this already, so this is intended as a 'heads up' for those who don't. beware accidently dropping your bonnet mouldings when removed for painting. I had mine securely mounted, so I thought, ready to have the top surface glossed. Then I moved around them and accidently k...

Last active June 02 2022, almost three years ago now.
Hopefully he's okay, also shame if the Minor never got finished after he put in so much work.
Of course he may simply have 'migrated' to Facebook like so many others....
Best wishes,
Mike.

Re: MM & early SERIES 2 GLOVEBOX LID CLOCK

Was there even such a thing as Deluxe Series MM cars? I don't recall such a thing. Later cars, series 3 onward had standard and deluxe models but not sure there were ever deluxe MM's. I was given to understand that "Deluxe" simply meant that you got overriders and a passenger sunvisor fit...

Re: 1954 Morris Minor SMOKE BLUE RARE COLOUR -- ???

I agree it looks good and suits the car, not sure the red interior works well with it though. Would that be an original option with this colour? I have to say I can think of better matches that wouldn't clash quite as much. A an aside, I wonder if you'd still be able to get the paint to put the whe...

Re: Unbelieveable

I heard today about a pickup that sold for £28,000. The owner was reselling it and wanted £30,000!!! Pickup's and vans can garner a premium, depending on condition etc. To get that for it, well, let's just say for Mark 2 Jaguar money I'd be looking at a Mark 2 Jag........ I hope the buyer isn't exp...

1954 Morris Minor SMOKE BLUE RARE COLOUR -- ???

Hi, I've spotted this on eBay a few times, apart from the incorrect colour coding of the wheels and grill, I have never heard of smoke blue? A nice colour and it does seem to be more 'blue' than the usual mistake / confusion people experience with smoke grey, so was this a factory option briefly? B...

Re: Unbelieveable

I think that will be a while off yet, probably not within the lifetime of many 'older' owners. Then we may well end up (ironically) going full circle, as petrol was originally sold over the counter in cans I believe?.... But please feel free to correct me on this, as I'd be interested to know.... B...

Re: Unbelieveable

It's a shame as I think people see moggies as not worth much On the whole so are not too eager to do them up as end worth is low.But as parts are available they are a great car to do surley. Some people need to realise that these cars are not in the same league as fast Fords, Jaguars or Farrari's a...

Unbelieveable

Hi, I'm not going to post up a link to this one, however if you look on eBay I think you'll find it fairly easily. There's a lowlight for sale, sat outside a barn requiring a complete restoration. From looking at it I'm not even convinced all the bits are there. Even so the vendor wants £6000!!! :o...
