Thanks for all the pointers.
If it appears that the connections are ok, can an auto eletrician test the dynamo and regulator?
Would it be likely to be a sudden death of another component?
Cheers,

I know it was in regular use until I bought it mid- December. I met the previous owner on the Saturday and we test drove it for about 1/2 hour. I left the car with him for 3 days before I was able to pick it up and it fired first time. No sign at all of any likely problems. No warning lights or low ...

I will check the leads that nothing has come adrift tomorrow. Would the dynamo just give up the ghost in an instant? Or would it be a more gradual failure? If the dynamo has stayed connected all the while, is it possible to lose the polarity, again, in an instant? Not doubting the previous replies, ...

Ignition light has decided to stay on.

Hi All, I picked up my new Mog a few weeks ago and it worked exactly as it should. Turn key, pull starter and away she goes. Oil light goes out as does (did) ignition light. No flickering light or any indication of any trouble. Haven't fired her up for a couple of weeks and she flatly refused to go ...

Pics from Brooklands 14-02-99 please???

Hi All, I took my dad and a previous moggy(Maureen) to the Spring into a Morris Day at Brooklands on Sunday 14 Feb 1999. The 2nd year when it poured with rain most of the day. Fantastic day though. We had a little gaz stove for brewing up tea in the car although most people by thought we were on fir...

I'll have no trouble in matching it either. I use a little paint shop in London SE8 where the guys are the tops in matching older or obsolete colours. I can post their details if anyone needs them?

Chassis number de-coding help?

Hi All, I haven't checked against the car yet but....the chassis number on the log book begins MA2S5 then the 7 digit number which I assume to be the actual chassis number. What does the MA2S5 bit mean? I know from an old Mercedes I had that even the information for the ignition key number was on th...

Thanks for the info. It seems to be (according to my chassis number) Dove Grey. Not only does it look a pleasing colour, it actually sounds like one too.
Best wishes,
Frank.

Which grey is it????

Hi All, Further to my other post on another topic, I wonder which grey my new toy is? Would the very knowledgable people on here be able to tell from my chassis number or would I need to give numbers from the actual plate on the bulkhead/inner wing? She hails from April 1964. 2 door. Red interior an...

I'm told that heads with a number 6 at the end of the number near the thermostat are ok to use. With the thermostat housing 'extra connections' on the Metro head, could one of those be used to provide a heater take off to fit the Minor? I have mates in engineering so could have something made if nee...

Cylinder head swap info please?

Hi All,
I'm in need of an unleaded cylinder head for my 1970 1098cc Minor. I know that the Metro head will go with a bit of persuasion but I am not sure on the necessary codes for the right one and how to identify it as unleaded. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Misfire update.

Here goes. I thought it was the mixture or a sticky carb. I had the carb off and cleaned, re-fitted and tuned it. Checked the electrics and no problems there either. Gave up after about 8 hours in total. Phoned a mobile tuner who came out today. Turns out it is No.2 cylinder has a faulty exhaust val...

We're out at the weekend so I can ask the traders. As the car will be with me, I can pop the wheel centre off to check for fit too. It would be better for me as I kinda prefer the green light winking away on the indicator stalk !!

After market steering wheel?

Hi all. With my new seats in, I am now looking for a steering wheel with a thicker rim. No particular ideas on style etc although I don't really want one of those tiny jobs. Is there a generally accepted make of type that is used? Would/does it require a boss to be used or made up? Thanks.

My new seats are in and I can't believe how thoroughly comfortable they are. Loads of comments already of how they seem to just fit right in with the car. The frames are basically a square of box section to the size of the seat. There is a leg on each corner. At the front, there is a flat bar betwee...

The company are A&P Metal in Camberwell. I think the address is Consort Road SE15 but I'll check as they are in a railway arch type unit. I picked them up and they had even sprayed them in a nice gloss black finish. I don't know if they will post or not. I'll dig the number out of my mobile phon...
