On the other hand if you want a Minor that you can use as soon as you buy it walk away and find something else. There are plenty for sale at the moment. Depends on what you're looking for really (and how much cash you have to spend). Do you want a complete project or an ongoing restoration that can...

Thanks for your input. My essential dilemma is, well, rot is part of the course. It's just the blue smoke, that's a little more scary. The car is coming from people I trust, it's been to a mechanic for an MOT, and that's the feedback I've been given. I've told them, I want to know a price with the M...

Blue Smoke
I have been looking at a minor that failed it's MOT on 'blue smoke' from the exhaust. I have been told this is thought to be because it's been driven very little for a year. Could this be the cause?... or is it something more extreme like piston rings? (I know it's had a new head gasket in the last ...

Some Photos!
So, today I ventured to Mercedes Benz World in Weybridge. I took some photos :D :D They may not be to everyone's taste, but thought I'd share! I apologise for the arty angles and overall poor quality. I've recently (ish) bought a stupid SLR camera... and so I was trying to justify it's cost by using...

So what's the problem with it all loosening up then... ? I sortof understand why you may want a recon engine... but when people talk about the 'crank' and so forth I don't really understand what they are and thus the benefits of renewing them, or indeed what such things manifest themselves as in ter...

Yes - the bores wear away - and the piston rings wear too, and lose some of their 'springiness' - allowing gases to pass by. The crankshaft and it's bearing can wear too - although if regular oil and filter changes are performed, and the engine is NEVER allowed to run short of oil - they can go on ...

Recon Engines
I've been looking at the minor specialists... and they seem to do 'recon' engines.
They're about £600 - £800... which seems reasonable. How much do they cost to be fitted?
Also, how does that sort of price compare with having a garage recon the engine for you?
Thank You

Shameless picture thread....
I'd like to see pictures of your cars please... mostly because I'm a geek and I'm finding it hard work trying to find pictures around the forums?
Is that within the rules?

Who has a garage?
Hey everyone. Just a quick question really... how many of you guys have garages for your cars... and how many go for the drive/road maybe with a car cover?
I'm just interested as I don't have a garage, but a mog would be my second car.... I'm just wondering how viable that would be!
