Re: 1970 2 door project - VBE 264J
Engine is now sat on some new engine mounts - I've used some of the LDV mount on the drivers side, and made one from scratch in the end for the passenger side. Having the engine suspended where it belonged, I thought it was time to see if the engine ran, so borrowed the Landrover's battery, rigged u...

Re: 1970 2 door project - VBE 264J
Not got a lot done over the last month as I've been doing loads of overtime at work, and had to straighten out my 1972 109" Landrover after in idot pulled out of a junction into it (they came off worst, with a very written off car, I drove the Landrover home - a 109" Landrover traveling at...

Re: 1970 Morris Traveller Florrie
Are you sure the photo in the link above is the one you intended - I can't see anything wrong in it? I think you may have meant this photo https://flic.kr/p/pfL8ZQ IMHO, having dealt with a similar area on my 2 door, that isn't too bad a bit to fix, once the front wing is off. All the bits I can see...

Re: Goodbye taxdisc - or not!
Anyone know if the thing about not transferring tax applies now to cars which still have in-date paper disks? My V reg Skoda banger is getting flogged near the end of this month, due to rust and the (bally expensive) insurance running out (it's in test till April, and goes alright, so should come in...

This weekend has seen the outside of the main shell painted... (the doors weren't intended to be painted, it's not that I just "forgot" and missed a bit!) http://images.serieslandrover.co.uk/minorpaint9.jpg http://images.serieslandrover.co.uk/minorpaint10.jpg http://images.serieslandrover....

Re: 1970 2 door project - VBE 264J
Been a while since I updated this thread, but progress has been being made slowly but surely, to the point that I've started putting real proper paint on things, rather than just holding coats of cheap primer to stop new metal going rusty on me... On it's side for the final few bits of welding, and ...

Re: 1970 2 door project - VBE 264J
No pictures I'm afraid (and to be honest, it doesn't look like anything much has changed!), but a load more progress has been made. Engine and gearbox now fit in the gap (and I've not had to do anything naughty to the bulkhead, although I have had to make a heavy duty repair to the front cross-membe...

Re: can't get in my car
Trolley jack under the back axle, then roll the car forward on the jack till you can open the drivers door?

Re: What revenue weight?
That's almost what I'm after, but not quite. I need a maximum laden weight for the car, plus passengers and luggage - basically, DVLA want a number beyond which it can be deemed to be "overloaded" - this being one of the main purposes of a revenue weight. If it didn't have one, it wouldn't...

Re: What revenue weight?
Kevin S - that sounds like what they told me.
Problem is, I've no idea what that number is for a minor, much less where to find it documented in a manner DVLA would accept... Hence this thread! (Not that it's yielded any terribly useful results so far).

No intention to send original copies of anything other than the current v5 {and I'll photocopy that before it goes in case they lose it).

Re: 1970 2 door project - VBE 264J
Having experimentally bolted it all together, it looks like a 405 starter and flywheel are the same as an LDV - rather to my suprise, both an LDV clutch cover and the 405 starter bolt up, (although I may yet discover the starter doesn't actually mesh!). Here be some photos summarizing tonight's acti...

Re: What revenue weight?
I'm pretty sure the logbook is correct for the car - everything seems to match up, the body type is given as "saloon" (am I the owner of the worlds only saloon HGV?), the only bits that don't seem to make sense are the revenue weight and tax class. I'm not currently a club member, I've pai...

Re: What revenue weight?
Do cars not normally have revenue weights recorded then?
All my old Landrovers have one (although I suppose they are technically light commercials), although my a40 doesn't.
Should it have any sort of weight recorded on logbook?

Re: What revenue weight?
Yes, no dispute about that. The problem is that in order to get the tax class changed, I need a revenue weight of less than 3500kg. Beyond that, I don't really care (hence why I would happily settle for 3499kg), but DVLA seem to care a great deal. Thus it is, I'm trying to find out what revenue weig...

What revenue weight?
As some of you may know, I have a slight paperwork problem with my project. Someone somewhere at DVLA has made a mistake at some point (probably when all the tax classes got altered in 1995, which was about when it was last on the road), and it's ended up registered as a "private HGV" with...

Been shopping today, and now have a gearbox... http://images.serieslandrover.co.uk/minorgearbox1.jpg http://images.serieslandrover.co.uk/minorgearbox2.jpg I still need some other bits, (does anyone know if a 405 car starter works with the LDV bellhousing, or if I need an LDV starter?), but it's enou...

Re: Advise needed for crashed minor.
If the front chassis legs haven't gone out of square (and looking at the damage, I doubt they have), that's a very easy area to repair. Mine had similar damage, so I cut the whole of the inner wing away, and made a new one (you can buy all this stuff as panels, or if you're a cheapstake like me, you...

Re: Advise needed for crashed minor.
It's very hard to advise without knowing the full extent of the damage. Mine suffered a little incident (read : got dropped nose first off a gantry crane), and I now know a little about straightening wrecked engine bays. I was lucky, the main body of mine didn't distort, which would be a much bigger...
