Re: Bendix drive from starter motor
Thanks guys for the replies! She lives! I figured out what the starter does to achieve the meshing and therefore i put it back on to the car. It's a very new starter motor and in excellent condition. What i did the second time was to put power from my other car (a B4 audi 80 btw) and connected the l...

Bendix drive from starter motor
Afternoon folks I'm having trouble with the starter motor on the car. Turning the ignition all i can hear is the starter spinning and not engaging any sort of drive? I've pull out the starter and using jump leads from a good battery on another car, it spins up fine. If looking at the starter from en...

Re: Replacing gaskets
Thanks for the responses guys... very helpful indeed! I have an oil leak and as yet i haven't been able to identify where it's coming from.... I'm going to get some engine degreeser on there, give the block a good clean up, and hopefully identify where said leak is. In the meantime I thought I'd try...

Re: Replacing gaskets
Give that new inlet/exhaust gasket a smear of grease on both sides. It works wonders and it allows you to re-use the gasket if required. New brass manifold nuts (Pt No: GHF261 (MOSS)) would not go amiss. To make life easier use the double length (Pt No: GHF261A (MOSS)) ones for the four centre stud...

Re: Replacing gaskets
Hmm, I've just gone on to that website and I think i'll have to put a new shopping list together!! lol
I was using bull motif and it doesn't list different choices..convex concave, rubber cork, etc!!
I'll have a look at those part numbers you've put up and then add to that.... back in a mo.

Re: Horn and indicators stopped working
Handy diagram! I now understand the electrical layout way more! Actually pretty simple. And good news.. traced the horn to a broken wire right down beside the horn itself, nicely hidden by the cold air feed pipe! Any can you believe it..after getting told by the father inlaw that the bulbs were fine...

My interior light is working, and as far as a know bulbs are ok. From what i've read would i be correct in saying that both are connected? I've checked...

Re: Brake bleeding after having the servo off..
Well done! Thanks bmc!! So good to have her running again! Just need to sort out the way she is running now. Certain it's running rich. Can't really get any sort of half throttle down whilst driving without it running as though the choke is in, and there is no power gain, i have to accelerate using...
