Re: Strange rattle/knocking from engine
Great points. I guess i'm just on a downer about the car at the moment because its a phase (a long one!) of problems and niggles and money and I can't afford it to break down. We've had another listen and it appears to be coming from the oil breather pipe/chain area but we're not sure how to properl...

Re: Converting to Halogen
Well the bulbs are bayonet I think. The fitting on the bottom screws in to the bowl. Do you need pics?

Converting to Halogen
I am thinking of changing my headlights to Halogen ones and have a few questions: -Which should I go for and where from? -I have the non-sealed beam units fitted at the moment and what exactly would the kit replace, the glass, the bowl or what? -How is the new units held in? Any pictures or answers ...

Re: Strange rattle/knocking from engine
Yes you are right BMC, there were a couple of issues but I can't remember which of many would link to this rattle. I will check the timing chain area and pulley first before ripping the engine out AGAIN! Using her everyday I am slowly coming round to storing her for a year or so to give some TLC and...

Re: How to Mount Stereo In Glovebox?
Hello! As my car is original, I didn't want to go drilling holes or fittings so mine is in the glovebox behind the steering wheel (no cover on this one). I put a hole in the glovebox lining; this can be replaced easily, and put the wires through there. The speakers are fitted into a piece of wood th...

Cancelling insurance?
Heloo, I have messaged FJ as well and am awaiting a reply but I was wondering if I cancelled my insurance for the year (6 months to go), would I get any amount of money back?
Has anyone else done this?
Thanks, Steve

Re: Strange rattle/knocking from engine
Just tried retarding the ignition a bit but the noise is still there. I can accelerate with no noise, I can lift off with no noise its just in slightly higher revs (eg. in 3rd gear doing about 35 or about 20mph in 2nd gear). It sounds slightly like a diesel, bit rattly but not a 'hollow' known or ra...

Strange rattle/knocking from engine
CLASSIC CARS!!!! My car has started to make a strange rattling noise, like a few nails in a tin thats slightly muffled. It only occurs on mid throttle. I can make the car make the noise by accelerating and lifting off enough to keep a constant speed and also when still by revving slightly and holdin...

Bike Rack for saloon
Afternoon,
I was just wondering if anyone has tried one of the modern bike racks that usually fit on hatchback boots on their saloon moggies. Some look like they'd fit but I was wondering if anyones tried it. Please let me know and any pics would be good

Re: Mission accomplished - I am now a Traveller owner :-)
Very nice. I still have the original head (non-unleaded) and have covered alot of dual carriageway driving with no problems. I occasionally put the additive in and for the price, I prefer it. The usual distributor is the Lucas 25D I beleive. Mine is totally original and have rarely had problems rela...

Re: dusting off and selling - guidance needed please
Unfortunately I am not that clued up on valuation or preparing a stored car for sale (apart from a bit of rust treating a cleaning!). I am sure someone on here will be able to help you out and quite a few people will be able to give a rough idea. They're a great lot!

Re: Bonnet Opening on road..
I can trust myself it was just the one time I forgot. I definately check it everytime now. David, that's the damage on ours and the bonnet is pushed in a tiny bit but not serious is what i'd say. I'm missing driving a classic but in this rain, its good to know the Honda won't rust as much. ;)

Glad to know I'm not the only one. I learn and move on. We're still trying to sort my green one! Runs but misfires and sounds bad. I'll get magic Ely man if I can't sort it

And with my car, she's been looked after, just doesn't like something. I love it to bits, just hate it when it doesn't work. Classic motoring
