Re: Won't start

As per earlier post I find you need to wet the valves to get them to work after a long lay off. I layed up mine this winter and the pump would click but not pump fuel. I squired a little wd40 down into the delivery tube and the pump started to pump straight away This is why I said about priming whic...

Re: Won't start

I would clean up the fuel pump points. This could well get the pump to run faster. I find it SU pumps dry out from lack of use and they will not prime. I assume this is due to dry non return valves. I usually squirt a little wd40 down into the pump and they prime. I guess carb cleaner would do the s...

Re: Wolseley 1500 9" Brake Drums Availability

I had an issue with the modern linings on Wolselsy fronts..They can take a while to bed in. I would keep driving it and they will slowly get better. Need to do circa 250 miles I suspect t before they are bedded in

Re: Wolseley 1500 9" Brake Drums Availability

The pipe on your unrestored one looks too close to the bolt -it would have been a real pain to remove it if you had too.

I tend to put a smear of rubber grease on the pipe (between the union and pipe) to make any future removal easier- it is very disapoining when the pipe just turns inside the union

Re: Wolseley 1500 9" Brake Drums Availability

The brake pipes looks a little long, but I am sure it will be fine

The original route is they bend back into the recess on the back plate.

Re: Air Filter / Air Filter Housing

I would also add it looks like you had cone filter fitted before . This is an alternative option to replace this.

I found the k&n type filter quite noisy.

Re: Air Filter / Air Filter Housing

This is the one I use for a similar set up. Looking at your photo it looks like you will need the elbow too that fits onto the carb https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/197075677613?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=n25M65OWTWa&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=iwOzYc5lRky&var=&widg...

Re: Wolseley 1500 9" Brake Drums Availability

It sounds more likely they were changed back to Wolselsy. The minor cylinders need a longer slot. You don't need to weld them to covert to minor cylinders, just the reverse the change

Did they have cylinders fitted when you got them? Are you able to measure them.

Re: Wolseley 1500 9" Brake Drums Availability

Stephen Not sure if you have seen this from a previous post on the board -the table in the thread gives the braking ratios front to back with different set ups https://board.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?p=634773&hilit=brake+design#p634773 As an aside i have run 1500 front brakes on a car and a van ...

Is your timing out? I notice in your thread you say it has electronic ignition. Was this a recent fit? I had to adjust the timing quite a lot when if fitted a kit

Re: Diagnosing a gearbox

Do you have a smooth case box? You could swap over the remote mechanism if so which I believe will work with your gear stick

Re: Diagnosing a gearbox

On my earlier point, I would suggest you check the levers first. It may still need a rebuild but it's. A quick check. I knew someone who fitted 2 gearboxes and both jumped out of top. I think the handle was the issue in both cases. Assuming you have not started the removal, can you remove the lever ...

Re: Diagnosing a gearbox

Have you got the correct gear handle? I l am pretty sure the 1098 was different to the 948 and to they are not interchangable. It's possible it might need to be swapped for a 1098 handle.

I am sure someone will correct me if this is incorrect

I am pretty sure Roy's traveller was fitted with 1500 rear brakes. Can you not see if these are available?
