I would remove the gearbox cross member bolts one at a time to make sure the captive nuts are aound. It's an easy job to make any repairs while the master cylinder is out of the way

Bleeding brakes can be an issue i i have spent a few happy hours trying to bleed mine over the years. Before you go much further, are you happy the flexis are in good condition? Saved quite a lot in my youth. As described use a grease gun to disassemble and then clean and inspect the cylinder. If the surface is ok it can be reused. You often find it's sized up with grot

Seat belt mounts were fitted post 1965, although the door pillar mounts were earlier

Before you do anything further have you checked for leaks?

Did you replace all the copper washers on the cylinders?

I found similar cracks on mine. It passed an MOT, but the cracks could not be seen until the area was cleaned up.

Single piece exhausts can be fitted or removed by jacking up the rear of the car on the front spring hangers, and allow the axle to drop down. I have removed a complete exhaust this way( 2 piece that would not separate)

They harden with age and stop being effective. I would get it replaced

I find mine need a bit of throttle when you are turning over the starter. Have you tried this?
