1275 no longer overheating !
Thanks to all the guys for your recent input regarding my overheating 1275. I've just installed a new radiator and a thermostat and she now runs like a beaut ! Rock steady on 80 celsius. It's a relief to have a decent engine that's chugging along nicely for the first time since I installed it last a...

RNO 174D, and PWK 282G
Does anybody know the whereabouts of a Travellor - RNO 174D; and a two door saloon - PWK 282G - two vehicles that I've owned and loved. It would be great to know that they're still out there.

Dear all, thanks for all your input - I don't have a thermostat in there at the moment but will get one, will change the rad for a new one, and will look into the cracked head (not mine) side of things. I think the timing's ok but worth checking I guess. As for the hoses, they seem good, and the fan...

Has this engine had a rebore ?
I've got a midget 1275 engine in my Mog, but don't know the history prior to my acquiring said device. I had the head off today and there didn't seem much of a step around the lip of the bores, quite a bit of carbon around number four bore's valves, and quite a bit of tan deposits on all the inlet v...

1275 overheating
I fitted a 1275 MG Midget engine to my convertible moggy back in the autumn of 2007. I got the engine off of ebay and the guy who sold it did't know much about it other than it was running sweetly when he saw it in the Midget he took the engine out of. When I fitted it it ran nicely with no smoke co...

JW - make sure the security cable on your gearbox is a) present and b) correct! In a hard stop the engine can otherwise lunge forward and the fan will make mince of your rad. Completely agree with that - I've seen this happen on standard cars where there's a BIG clearance between fan and rad, so it...

the yellow fan is much more efficient- i just sanded about an eighth inch off of each blade and it never hit, and the fan is so light you would never notice a difference in balance. Thanks for this last bit of info. I've recently refitted the 1275 fan and was able to do so by filing bigger holed wh...

is the 1275 speedo the same as 1098
Having just swapped my moggy's 1098 engine and gearbox for the Mg Midget 1275 engine and gearbox, I'm now finding the speedo isn't working. Is the 1098 speedo cable different from the 1275 ?

How can you identify an unleaded head
Having just bought a midget 1275 from a guy who got it from another guy several years ago, I wasn't able to find out whether it had an unleaded head or not. Is there any way that I could find this out ?
Thanks in anticipation

How strong are these half shafts ?
Some of you will be aware that I have just put a 1275 Midget engine in my mog. I hope that it will soon be on the road. Something that is bothering me, is how well the old half shafts will take to this new influx of power. Having broken two half shafts on a traveller with a 1098 engine back in the 1...

1275 fan clashes with radiator
Greetings to all wise beings ....... I'm currently installing a 1275 Midget engine into my convertible and running into all sorts of little challenges ! The latest ist to do with the yellow plastic fan that comes with the 1275 engine - when I started it up the fan jammed into the top of the radiator...

Thank you everyone for your replies - I'm ok in terms of fitting the large bore to the car, I've got an LCB which has fitted the lot in nicely ...... My initial question is more to do with identifying the cast iron manifold which was on the 1275 originally - it's not a marina and not a midget manifo...

Strange manifold from a 1275 midget engine
I have encountered problems trying to connect a large bore downpipe to the exhaust manifold which came with a 1275 midget engine. I have digital pics of the offending item which I could email to any one who has extensive knowledge in this area and would like a go at identifying. The bottom/outlet po...
