Help in Bristol

Hi, my son and I embarked on our second restoration of our Moggy 1000 earlier this year. We wanted to upgrade the engine and got hold of a dismantled 1275 MG engine. We rebuilt it, hopefully well enough, and fitted a new second hand carb, electronic ignition sytem and bigger bore exhaust. Unfortunat...

Thanks, i will look into shims. As to like them or not - I think it is always a matter of taste. The photo doesn't really do them justice but they came with 4 brand new tyres and total cost was £85 so worth a try i thought.

13" slot mags on a ford disc brake conversion?

Hi, does anyone know if 13" slot mags will fit on a ford disc conversion? Having not done my research well enough i have just bought a lovely set of refurbished midget rostyles only to find they catch on the ford calipers. In my search for period wheel mods I am now looking at slot mags. Any he...

Once again thanks for all the advice. I will pass this on to my freind. On balsnace it seems to me that keeping a matched gearbox and engine is easier and that cutting the floor is a small price to pay.

Cheers

Gearbox -803 into 1098 won't go - will it?

Hi, having changed a few 1098 engine and gearbox combinations I offered to help a friend take out his broken engine with 803 gearbox attached and replace it with a 1098 engine and gearbox. Problem was the hole in the floor for the gearbox isn't big enough. 2 solutions occour; cut back the floor pan ...

948 gearbox into 1098 engine?

Hi All

I am tryinÇ to replace my gearbox on 1098 van and have been given a 948 gearbox(non ribbed). On tightening up, the engine won't turn over. So take it out again and realise the first motion layshaft is of a different profile. Any advice??

Thanks

Hi Cam

Thanks for that - tried didn't work. To be clearer I don't have a neutral at all only reverse when gear stick in neutral postion, or psssibly 3 and 4. I think I might need to go and get that gear box!

Gearbox stuck in 3/4??

Hi everyone, My Morris Van known as Homer (No Plate DUH!) woke up this morning refusing to select any other gear than 3 or 4. I've had no previous warning of any problems, usually the sweetest gearbox you could imagine. So before I remove said gearbox and replace it with a £40 secondhand unit - any ...

Thanks guys. The bit (do this bit before taking the balljoint off) I wish I'd asked before I'd managed to do this with the prodigious use of hydraulic jack upward and hammer downward. Still I'll try the heating up bit tommorrow! Once again reliable and useful advice - thanks

Steering gaiter replacement

Loti has just had her 3rd MOT since being in my ownership - the first failure!! - two bulbs and a steering gaiter - cost me £5.50 in replacement parts. The joys of Moggie ownership continue I thought. Another afternoon in the garage tinkering away simply replacing a gaiter. OK - so simply is not qui...

Horn not working MOT looming!! Direct feeding of power from the battery and the horn works, the earthing is clean. I suspect the wire that goes down the steering column from the switch. Any ideas or advice?

Thanks
