Thanks guys, some interesting ideas.

How much of a problem would I be creating for future welding if I spray Waxoyl or engine oil in the sections?

Link arm

I've taken the rear link arms off to do some welding. (the one that goes from the the rear chassis leg to the rear shock absorber arm). I need to replace the two rubber bushes, however the other end has a ball joint. Around the spindle there is the remains of some rubber. the question is: Is it supp...

Copper fuel pipe??

The minor is on its side and I thought I would replace the rusty fuel pipe while I'm at it. Being a heating engineer, I have some suitable sized copper pipe. Does anyone know if it would be ok to use this. It's pure copper rather than that stuff that is used for brake pipes which I think is a mixtur...

Rust proofing inside box sections

Hi everyone So the Morris is on its side and the amateur welder's been let loose on it (that's me!). What's worrying me is I'm spending lot's of time welding and sanding and painting the underside but how to I protect the inside of the box sections. Do I spray Waxoil or engine oil in them or somethi...

Paint colour

Hi

How do I find out the actual body colour. Are there any codes on the vehicle that would correspond with a chart. Not sure if I've got Snowberry white or Old English white (1967). Also have a 1955 which is green?

Thanks

What paint to use after welding?

Hi Am doing quite a lot of welding underneath and wondered what is the best way to protect it afterwards? I've got some Zinc 182 primer in the garage but don't know what to use on top. Or is there something that doesn't need primer which would be easier? Don't really want to use underseal. Also, wha...

Hi

Is it possible to replace the catch that fits to the opening part of the window. Both mine have snapped. If so how??

Thanks

Roll over cradle

Hi I've got hideous amounts of welding to do so need to turn the car on its side really. I'm thinking of making a roll over cradle (the one that bolts to the hubs, not the spit roast type). Has anyone made one of these? Any tips on construction, what to make it out of or any experiences etc would be...

Out of curiousity, does anyone know what %profile equates to a 'normal' tyre, before low profile tyres became common?

For example: 155/?? x R14 = 155 x R14 ?

Many thanks guys, Clarke it is then! Has anyone used 'No Gas'? It seems you can convert them to use gas by buying a regulator, gas bottle and non-fluxed wire and they are marketed as 'dual purpose'. Not much in the cost and thought it might give me more options.

Which welder?

Half way through my night school welding course, need to buy a welder now to get practising at home. Haven't got a massive budget. Anyone, got any recommendations? The SIP had a very good spec for the money (£220) but checked out some welding forums and there were reported problems with the wire fee...

Black smoke from exhaust

Ok, so I arrive home from work and find a rather sorry looking 1955 Series II on the lawn! Turns out the other half has bought it for "spares"! "It was only £50" she says, looking all pleased! - looks like £50 worth of trouble to me! Anyway, not one to see a classic car go to the...

Fuel Pump Gaskets

Hi everyone

Like an idiot I took the fuel pump apart ('55 saloon) and the two round gaskets fell to bits! Bull Motif don't do them; does anyone know if they're available and if so, where from?

Many thanks

I had a fair amount of side to side movement on my pedal so I changed the two bronze bushes in the brake pedal and this improved things. However the shaft (that is attached to the clutch pedal) was quite worn. There was some evidence of someone previously building it up with weld and then grinding i...

Just to clarify with more detail: Car is '67 Saloon. The only new parts are the shoes. Don't know if this problem existed before as car is new to me. From memory, the adjusters on the rear are smaller than the ones fitted to the front. The shoes can't be the wrong way round as there's only one semi-...
