there were both 1098,ive checked the vacume advance and it seems to be ok.am i right in thinking that you screw the adjuster mixture nut in to weaken the mixture??or unwind,i done the valve clearences before i fitted the engine so there ok,not done a compression check maybe i should,no smoke though ...

well i fitted my replacement engine today,i reoved the box and stuck it all in together with another pressure plate :-? its a sweet engine and no smoke!!!!one thing i will say its abit flat,i set the timming up at 3 deg as per the book,fitted new points plugs coil everything to be honest,i havent to...

hi all i posted a thread the other day having problems on missfire,i managed to trace it to a sticky valve,i removed the head and found it was well worn out,so i found a replacement engine,ive removed my old engine tonite after work,but i had abit of a fight with it,i was using a crane and a 2 post ...

hello everyone got a strange one here,i cant work it out never came across this before,right,driving around town on and off the accelerator no problem,runs fine,now on the way to work theres a straight peace of road about half a mile long,if i keep it at 50 mph its fine ,soon as i accelerate its run...

hi all again just a quickie,when pushing the clutch down the brake lights come on?even if i hold the brake pedal up while doing this,whats the best way of adjusting these?and what temperture does your moggys run?mines always at 60 deg,ive fitted new thermostat and still the same,would have thought 8...

hi all ive found another stabaliser on a spare speedo that i had and used that as well as the original,seems fine,however having driven the car a fair distance it reaches no more than 60c,140f,i would have thought it would be slightly more than that,or no???? :wink: i know im a pain"""...

all done,spent the morning out there,the only snag i had was when connecting the live to the voltage stabliser and trying it,the gauge was flicking up and down,i then connected it to the other side of the stabiliser and its ok??so im assuming the stabiliser is shot,its all working well though,i dril...

yes it is a electrical gauge,would the stabaliser be behind the speedo next to the fuel gauge?and that needs to be wired into the live of the gauge?ive never fitted electrical gauges before only vacum,im glad you said that cos i wouldnt have done that :oops:

ive had alook and all i can see is a drain plug at the front of the head just behind the thermostat housing,ill see if i can find a housing in work tommorow with the hole in it.goto be easier then drilling the drain out.

temp gauge

hi all again
ive got a temp gauge from ebay,i was wondering if anyone has fitted these,im wondering where to put the temp sender??i was going to unscrew a blank on the cylinder head and drill and tap,any other suggestions would be good.cheers lee

well i had the box out today,the clutch pressure plate was at fault,even with it off the car you could see the thurst ring was out of line,new borg and beck clutch gone in and its right as rain!!with a new starter!!

thanks for your reply,ill check the shaft,i have a spare gearbox but unsure what its like or i would use that,i replaced the brass bush in the end of the crank when i done the clutch for what it cost.

went to the helston car show today down here in cornwall,seen 3 saloon moggys,and one very very nice traviler,all i can say is whoever has restored it has done a perfect job,its amazing.how many from the club went??very good day out. :)

hi again im going to do the job this week when i can pinch the ramp in work,i was told that you can adjust the springs on the pressure plate??ive looked at my old pressure plate and can see 3 screws with lock nuts,im not going too as i cant see how you can possibly set it up.it was a cheaper clutch ...

it was a complete kit,it looks like the ring is out of true like you say,nitemare,looks like the box has got to come out again then and another new clutch to be fitted :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:
