Stupid question here: Does it matter which way the springs go...er..that is front to back? Are the center bolts exactly in the middle of the arc?

great stories all! Love to read some more. A bit more about how I lucked into mine. My client had known of my love for Mini Coopers over the years, we always enjoyed swapping stories about our old car escapades. He was from England originally, so he was one of the few people I knew that understood w...

My friend Randolph in So. Cal. has done quite a few of those conversions. Here is his email: MorrisMinor1000@aol.com
He has a lot of pics up somewhere but I do not have the link.

Just received the new seals. Looks like there is enough room for them to go the right way around, so I will try it that way. I am getting pretty good at R&Ring rear hubs! :)

I change the oil in the minis as soon as it starts to show a bit of color. Since they don't travel very far anyway. I'd say that's around 1K to 1.5K mi. or about every 6 months. I use 20/50 castrol. It's cheap insurance.

I can't wait to see that! I have been thinking of trying to do a miata swap including suspension. Still in the imagining stages though.

I have the same problem with both my coopers. I just put it in 2nd gear and gently ease off the clutch as I shut them off. I am sure it is a timing thing, but they seem to run best at the setting they are at now.

still working on the diff

On the advice of rayofleamington I went out and bought a 1 7/8" socket for the rear hub nut. For those of you still using a chisel....A socket definitely makes life a lot easier!

I live about 2 miles from it. I could check it out if anyone is interested. I also have a spare Nissan A14 motor with 5 speed trans in my garage. I just might need a new project!

Well, the dual bearing kit is a bit more of a trick to install than I thought it would be. The instructions tell you to fit the seal backwards due to very limited clearence, now it's leaking. My brand new brakes are covered with gear oil. Anyone have experience with these hubs? I am considering goin...

Ray, I run them religiously as they keep the axles from leaking oil all over the garage floor when the wheels are off. I've never had that happen - but if it does, I'll know why. ;-) The half shaft has a screw to keep it closed on the gasket anyway, which is why you can have the rear drums off with...

Zippy it goes on the clutch pedal shaft, Paulk, I have put a grease nipple on the brake pedal bush area, but not the spacer . It had been replaced 5 months back and was "rustproofed" by the person fitting it. Trust can be ok, Not often! Can you post a pic of the location? I'm about to rep...

I'm running spacers on the rear as well and since the new hubs have four tapped holes I drilled the drum and half shaft to run a fourth screw to hole the spacers in place when the wheels are off.

got my traveler running last night

Like most every thing else, it took longer than expected, but it's ready to roll now. New brakes with springs relocated a tad further away from the hubs to clear the new double bearings, new super half-shafts, new 3.7:1 diff, and new leaf springs. So far I've only taken her around the block. The 3.7...

Bmc probably had a load of money to spare so made and installed them for the hell of it. I'm going to remove mine! They also fitted countersunk screws into all the drums - I usually put them all in a pile on the side of the garage 'for safe keeping' whilst the car is being used. I guess that's a bi...
