'64 Traveller Winsdcreen rubber replacment

HI All Is this task (replacing the windscreen rubber) _really_ such a terrible diy job? I'm in the process of sorting out the interior of my Traveller - and there's clearly been water getting in through the screen rubbers in the past - not surprising when you look at the cracking that's evident in t...

Traveller woodwork - rear pillar replacement...

HI All Tackled the 'droopy back doors' on my '64 Traveller today - top nearside was the worst culprit - hinge was sloppy against the woodwork, and attempts to tighten the two coachbolts holding the hinge to the rear pillar showed that the wood was a bit suspect. Temporary 'bodge' involved removing t...

Hi All Many thanks for the fast responses - much appreciated. Will take a look at the plugs and see what colour they're burning. The dealer is a very well know, and well-established company in Bristol. As part of the deal with this car they did a service which included a number of new parts, 'waxoyl...

"Running on", unleaded and magic conversions...?

Hi All Sometimes my '64 Traveller is so "enthused" that she won't stop - even after the ignition has been turned off. She chuggs on for up to ten seconds - before realising that she's been asked to stop... Doesn't bother me particularly - but wondered whether this indicates that I should t...

Traveller - droopy doors !

Hi All Not droopy drawers - doors ! <g> Discovered a new snag with the new traveller...... The rear doors seem to have developed a droop - particularly the nearside door - which has dropped possibly 1/4 of an inch at the top. Close investigation shows that there is movement in the top hinge, relativ...

HI Stig28 I take back what I said about the window channels, I found that the ally panel wasn't sealed properly where it fixes to the main post behind the door. The old Dumdum had dried out, cracked and fallen out, it was excellent weather yesterday for squeezing some new Dumdum into the gaps. Time ...

Hi Kevin windows channels overflowing - check that all drain holes are clear to the outside of the car, they come out underneath the waist rail. Another cause is that the inner fillet is not sealed properly with dum dum allowing the water from the rain channel to leak inside and onto the floor, have...

Thanks for the suggestion.
Is silicon sealant a suitable substance to squeeze under leaking rubber strips - or is there something else that's preferred ?

Hi Glovebox could be (a) leaking washer hose, (b) loose washer jet (perished gasket) allowing water to enter sround the jet, (c) ditto for wiper spindle, (d) windscreen rubber. Remove the glovebox then get an assistant to spray the outside of the car whilst you sit inside and watch. Rear footwell co...

Sources of leaks in a Traveller ..?

HI All Been a bit wet out here in the far South-West of Ireland. Trouble is - it's got a bit wet _inside_ 'Betty' (the 'new-to-me' '64 Moggie Traveller). Two main places seem to be getting wet... Directly behind the drivers' seat (quite a little puddle, just where the back legs of the seat sit) Befo...

Hi Adrian I too have what looks like a replacement carpet set. Popper bits have been screwed through the floor in various places, but these don't seem to have much effect. HI Dave Hi Adrian How did you find the results ? Worth the effort ?? Well I removed the old stuff (that had got a bit worse for having been soaked in water in the past) and the new stuff, although only 3/8 inch thick, seems to do the job fine! (and it was free  ) Have fun with the 'restoration'...
