I'm impressed at the interest... The JLH setup does look good, I was hoping to adapt the ford MK2 escort boxes and weld them in under the rear seat a bit like that.... I have an escort axle under my minor and hope to five link it when I have finished the other running gear projects. I have had a mea...

Rear Suspension Upgrade options - 5 linking????

Right (sorry for the long message)... I'm currently running a lowered marina rear axle with MGF 15in alloys and spax adjustable tele shockers (angled) it looks good and hasn't broken yet..... but the wheels rub on the wings, so i have not removed much of the bump stops... which means i don't have al...

I have been past that minor a few times while out mountain biking, its parked on a track, just off the road between Hope and Edale. I had a look / nosy, the front seats have been moved quite far back, due to the steering wheel assembly and speedo sticking right inside. The place also has a split scr...

Cracked HEAD

I spent the weekend cleaning and stripping down my mini-sport big valve stage 3 12G940 Cylinder Head. This was fitted to my old marina 1275 engine, but after removing it due to a burnt out exhaust valve i was going to fit it to my brothers mini. However after removing the valves and a good layer of ...

Hydraulic Clutch Master Cylinder Issues

I currently have the marina (1.3, 1979) pedal box installed in my car, this has the hydraulic clutch master cylinder which has started leaking very slightly into the inside of the car. This in the name of 'modifying' is connected through to a concentric clutch slave cylinder from a Vauxhall omega B ...

I have the 6 spoke (old standard type) MGF wheels, 185 60 15 tyres on the front, and i have to use a wheel spacer    to clear the kingpin.... I cant remember the width, possibly around 10mm I think. You can however easily replace the studs on the marina hubs with the longer ford ve...

Crossflow ground clearance!!!

I have recently fitted a 1600 xflow into my minor. However as the car is a little lowered / doesn't have the steering rack in quite the same place as ford and as i didn't want to start cutting lumps out of an alloy RS2000 bell housing... the engine is a rather low. The xflow is from a ford Capri MK1...

I'm 24 so a little older, but still not past the 'magic' sensible driver age of 25. My car had a marina 1275 and the insurance from Footman James was £151. I have recently fitted a 1.6 crossflow so upped the BHP from the 60s to over 80 and it was £10 extra (and a £15 admin fee  ). Its got load...

I taught myself a bit of MIG welding over a summer. I hadn't been on any course just read up on some sites and then did alot of practice - welder from screwfix, a big reel of wire and luckily my sister had a summer job at the local pub who supplied us with very cheap gas (cant afford argon). I start...

Thanks. I hope the insurance wont count it. I had a look for online pictures but being the North they haven't quite got that far yet. Although i did find the South Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership site (nice to see where my money goes) the camera that caught me (Sheffield A61 Grenoside) measures ...

Such a pain... Very Slight Speeding and Insurance

I got flashed by one of those lovely speed cameras in Grenoside on the way back from the Barnsley Club event at Elsecar a few weekends back. The nice letter i got confirms i was doing 36mph in the 30zone which is good news in that my speedo is calibrated correctly :D (only sort of realised i was a l...

I have a stainless LCB system (Mr Grumpy's i think). Got it off eBay £150 about 2 1/2 years ago had only been bolted to sellers car. I fitted it with new straps under the car. I haven't had any problems. The manifold is a little tarnished looking due to the heat. Its a single box system, so noisy bu...
