Re: Door Tops
Cheers Louise, I thought painted was right
Door Tops
Hello, Not been on here in a while but am still working on my two door. Slowly but surely it's coming along. It's a 1969 2 door in trafalgar blue, it turns out it was a mobility vehicle originally. I was having a conversation with a guy who's been restoring moggies for a while now and he was saying ...

Re: HOW DIFFICULT WOULD THIS BE
Would be a lot of work, but cheaper than converting it... Dare I suggest a new roof off a donor?

Re: crossmember and chassis leg replacement pic request
The only thing I would have done slightly differently is cut the floor edge panels to fit the spring hanger plate and butt weld it together rather than have an overlap. If I were doing those now I'd probably butt them to but I did those many many hours of welding ago. Now I'm more confident but I'm...

Cheers Ray, It was registered 7th October 69. I keep meaning to send off for the History from the DVLA but somehow always forget. The patch over it method is what got Bertie this far so I wasn't expecting to find such extensive work was needed when I bought him but that said, I didn't hunt around fo...

I had the same problem. The supplier I used seemed to think they were the same on traveller and saloon.
I added the missing bit.

Mig welder rather than arc welder. Which is a shame as arc welders are much cheaper but I believe I'm right in saying arc is too harsh for bodywork. I use a Sealey 130 amp welder with variable wire speed and 4 power settings. I'm not talking from great experience but I'm on my first restoration and ...

Painting the engine
Hello,
Am just in the process of cleaning up engine (1098) bits and bobs for painting and noticed there are hints of green paint left on the manifold. Was the manifold originally done in the same green as the rest of the engine or has this been done later?
Cheers,
Steve

Made the jig from 2x1 steel box and scaffold pole. It bolts to the engine mounts and the rear bumper bracket mounting points in the floor. It is really handy being able to move it for different angles of attack but doing it this way the shell has less support than lying on it's side so am having to ...

Fuel tanks
Hello, Does anyone out there have the larger capacity tank that is available? It's cheaper than the original size, it would seem, so I was wondering if there's any disadvantages? Does it hang lower beneath the car to give the extra capacity? If it does does anyone find it an issue, appearance wise o...
