advice an opinions needed

I have a minor million with it's original 948 engine, however its big end has gone. I would like opinions about whether I should get a reconditioned larger engine or get the original engine fixed. Would a reconditioned engine devalue the car if the number didn't match the chassis and it is the wrong...

Yes, I did mean 1098, oops. There is no blue smoke from the exhaust and the water is fine - it's not gone creamy or discoloured. The consumption of oil started a little after the shuddering. The garage did a compression test and said that at it's lowest it was 90 (they said more but I can't remember...

Reconditioned engine or rebore?

Hello, I am not technically and most of this doesn't make much sense to me - but I know my moggie is not right. It has had a new lead free cylinder head and gasket in August last year and then this April it had new exhaust valves and a new head gasket fitted and reseated. It was running beautifully ...

Thank you both. I was told I might need to get the plugs drilled out - so your suggestion is quite a relief! I will now go and order the right bits - thank you, it is such a huge help. I still have lots to learn... I have a electric ignition - will I still need to change points? Have a great Christm...

fuel pump and spark plugs

Thank you - both suggestions were spot on! I have changed the distributor cap and the rotor arm and it worked well for two days, then the problems returned. I have also changed two of the spark plugs and again it worked well but the fuel pump I think will need replacing as it packed up too. I have o...

not starting

My lovely car is refusing to start or it will start and then cut out a junction soon after I have moved off. It seems to be when it the engine is cold. I have tried with various lengths of choke but that doesn't seem to be it. The car is making the right noises but it just won't catch. It has an alt...

Thank you all for your replies! I am so pleased that my 'fixing' was not terribly bad. Tommorow I will attack the rubber hose.

draining the radiator

I need to put anti-freeze in the radiator and so am trying to drain it as I have no idea how much is in there or what type. I have broken a lever thing from what I think is the drain tap on the radiator but no water came out. There is a nut further up which I can't undo. Have I made a terrible mista...
