Hello, Yes sorry, I wrote that rather late and was a bit tired and worse for wear :) What I meant by the tappets is that in a couple of places the nut has become stuck solid, so instead of just the nut turning it's the threaded bit as well. I didn't think of the dashpot! I shall have a look this Sun...

Substantial lack of power
Hello there, It's been quite a while since I last posted, life got in the way of the restoration and it's only recently started up again. The other day I reversed out on to the drive way, which is on an incline. When I attempted to go back up the hill into the garage, get about 3 inches then sputter...

Hello there, It seems this chap was quite intent in his goal, what a bizarre fellow :S From what I've experienced Minor's elicit quite a mixed response, I don't know if it comes with being under 30 and owning one ( with further thought it's probably my emo'ish fringe, bloody emo ruined my hair cut fo...
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w290/carcruiser/wheelspats.jpg Those are stunning, I love the shape on them! I've been messing around with some sketches based on the ideas given here. I think I'm going to go for Linearaudio's suggestion of the pin and hole combination with some aluminium as Iain...
I thought he meant this type of spat ? <br> http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1233593784_ <br> ( I figured the quote thing out, hurrah! :D ) Indeed! thats exactly what I meant :) tortron, that sounds like a good method of construction but like stag36587 says, I'm not sure how they attach to the wi...
Hello, hope your all enjoying the snow ;) Thanks for the replies, it's certainly given me some options to think about :) Sorry I'm not sure how the quote thing works ( I am luddite ) bmcecosse Posted: Feb 02, 2009 - 08:03 AM 'Heavy' ? Spats
Hello there, I'm currently restoring my 1958 4 door and was wondering if anybody had an inkling on constructing rear wheel spats. The idea that I've had is to construct them out of aluminium as this is quite light weight. I have no idea how you would go about attaching them to the wings or any detai...

The original one would have lasted 20+ years, in my view the short life of your ones typifies the problems with modern spares. I agree it's a bit rubbish, I also just had to get an indicator stalk replaced after it developed a fault in just 3 months. Also the amount of new coils I've been thr...

Hello all, Thought I should give a bit of an update, After a bout of the 24 hour flu this weekend, I fitted a new starter motor today and he started up first time, with some gusto as well. I have to admit it's a bit shocking how fast he eats starter motors, this is my third in 2 years! As always, th...

Thanks for all the invaluable advice, I finally got the engine and box out late saturday night and managed to fit the new clutch, gearbox and engine mounts and have it all back together by quarter to 12 last night. It only took me 22 hours in total.... now I've had to promise not to work on the car ...

Ah ok I'll go give it a whirl :) Not to be cheeky but I also can't see how to remove the bit of the clutch linkage with the spring on it which connects to the pedal. I've taken off the split pin but I can't see how to get the bar clear of the chassis. Do I have to remove that entire side panel which...

Sliding the propshaft or some such?
Good evening all, I've got a bit of a stupid question, I'm currently taking out the engine with the gearbox attached so's I can get at the clutch and sort it out. Problem is I can't see how the propshaft comes away from the gearbox, it says in my manual about flanges self locking nuts and sliding ba...
