Well, those who designed and built the Minor, including the steering rack, specify EP90, that's what I use.
I've never had any success with those "oil guns" and use a small, dedicated for the task, grease gun with a flexible pipe.

Seconded. Some of these daytime fairylights are becoming very fancy and "blingy" too.

Re: Fitting a temperature gauge sender
Just to add, here is my electric (pos. earthed) temperature gauge sender. The plug it replaces is 5/8" U.N.F. and requires a 7/8" A/F socket for removal.

Re: Help timing
I use a mirror, on the floor, directly under the crankshaft pulley, and aim the timing light from above. I also use a dab of white paint on the c/shaft pulley mark and the pointers for T.D.C. and 5deg B.T.D.C. I posed the same question when I renewed the timing chain, and as has been mentioned, with...

I suspect that whatever so-called intelligence was being used picked up the word "nozzle" and associated that to fuel injectors?

Re: I'm a new member
And welcome from another 1962 Saloon owner. My car was built/assembled in February '62. Everything is more or less original except for, prior to my ownership, the 948cc engine and gearbox were replaced by a 1098cc engine and "ribbed" gearbox. It still had the 7" front brakes but I fit...

"I really must fit that dashcam!" I have a front facing dashcam in my Minor. To avoid modifying or adding extra wiring for a 12v power supply I use one of those rechargeable power banks. The dashcam runs off 5v so a u.s.b. outlet is perfect. The powerbank sits nicely in the l.h. "glov...

Re: Marina 1275 electronic ignition
I did run with an Accuspark electronic ignition for a time. It gave no issues. The only downside, not major, is that the wiring is different for +ve earth. I decided, after some thought, what happens if it fails out on the road - carry another distributor or electronic module around just in case - t...

"I actually changed my fronts, from white flashing, to amber and put the side light in headlight as I'm sure some didn't perceive it as a turn signal." An excellent solution Bill. I would have painted the headlamp bulbs amber and connected them to the flasher circuit. That would, of...

"Where is this information from?" I think it flew right over your head Bill. A little bit of sarcasm about the non use/lack of direction indicators. The most observant will see it's mainly, but not limited to, the drivers of the marques mentioned. I have even been behind a marked driving s...

The DVSA have just announced the biggest safety recall in history. It involves direction indicators malfunction for the following car makers.
The list is by no means exhaustive, but includes - BMW, Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, Audi, Landrover and Volvo.

Re: MOT & how else would you prove roadworthy…..
I agree with Bill. My Minor was last MoT'd in 2022, passed with no advisories. I regularly check over MoT items and personally think, maybe wrongly, that I'm perfectly qualified and experienced to know when somthing would fail. Again, as Bill suggests, the test is only an indication of roadworthines...

Re: Sorting out
I sometimes get night cramps. A, possibly petty, bugbear of mine is the use of "Mole grips" for the modern cheap and nasty vice grips. I do have a genuine Mole grip (wrench) from years ago, still working perfectly, made in Newport, S. Wales, by Mole. Yes, a ruler rules. Rules are often bro...

" I've been in engineering al my life and to me a graduated piece of metal/wood/plastic is a 'ruler', a 'rule' is something to follow/obey ;-)"
So have I, and I respectfully disagree. Following that logic - King Charles is a "ruler". To me it's always been a "rule".

"I do like a good typo" It's intentional. I have always referred to it as insulting tape.
I would suggest if the hubcaps are removable, by using only one's fingers, then they are too loose with the added risk of a dynamic loss on the road.

Re: New old tool
I have a similar wheelnut wrench, but it's a 90degree bend, not a spinner type. The hubcap removal end is useless and as mentioned risks damaging the wheel's paint. I doubt a plastic trim removal tool will be strong enough. I made a hubcap removal "tool" from a piece of flat bar steel bent...

It looks like the original Chinese tat rotor arm and points have been replaced by Lucas branded Chinese tat too in that inferior Chinese distributor copy.
I wondered about it's body shape too and see from the link it is a D45.
