Re: Thoughts on where to fit indicator bumper or above brake light

I think it all comes down to personal choice, mine are above the rear lights as I wanted them higher up, but on the bumper is fine but may not be seen by a vehicle close behind you.

Re: Minor Seats

I want to add that the foam that was on the seat is now on the back and I'm pleased I have been able to use it instead of it going to waste.

Re: Minor Seats

Yes I was much too ambitious with the 4" foam, 3" does the trick and I purchased some strapping online that is meant for sofas, it made the seats very supportive, its all trial and error.

Re: Minor Seats

I have to admit that I made a mistake in buying the 4" foam rubber for the seat, as much as I tried I could not fit the cover back on as it was too thick, so I had to cut it down, it is still thicker than the original foam but a much more realistic size now, oh well some you win.....

Re: Brush Painting

I have learnt that if you are going to work on your Minor then you should do it out of sight of others, I tried to buff the paint on " Rosie " when we first got her, and people commented on the shine, but up close it looked rough so I started to sand her down, then the comments started &qu...

Re: Rear lights 63 model

I will wait and see what comes along later as for now these lights are ok, one of the past owners had wired them the wrong way around and I had brake lights when I turned the side light on and vice versa.

Re: Rear lights 63 model

It seems my Minor has been fitted with the wrong lights maybe from a Midget or Sprite, they are meant to fit on a flat surface, whereas the minor ones are handed.

Rear lights 63 model

I have a 63 model that has the older type of rear lights as on the 62 and earlier cars, these were original equipment but they don't seem to fit right on wings, as they are not facing straight and seem to go out at an angle ( both facing outwards ), I have tried swapping them around but that makes n...

Re: Mirrors

The mirror came with an Allen key that is supposed to be used to tighten it to the frame, but the key is too large to go into the gap for the head of the screws, so although it fits the screws, it won't fit in the gap to tighten them !!!!

Re: Brush Painting

I have taken off the boot lid and it is sanded down and ready for paint, this will be a good chance to test my spraying skills, I will spray a primer on it first and see what that comes out like, I am lucky in have a boot that doesn't need welding, I am still waiting for the spray gun to arrive and ...

Re: Brush Painting

Thats an interesting video and he did a great job of it, but I have to balance my lack of skill with the working conditions, I am lucky to have a car port that is open on each end and by putting tarpaulin sheet over the ends I can make a crude spray booth, I am not looking for a showroom finish ( al...

Thank you for letting me know about this spray gun, that is exactly what I need, so I have ordered one, I hope it comes out as good as your Norton.

Brush Painting

When I purchased ( Rosie) my Minor, she had a lot of work done on her including a new floor, clutch, and a rebuilt engine with unleaded head and telescopic shocks all around, but the owner at the time must have run out of money because he brush painted her, up close it didn't look very good, I tried...

Re: Home tyre fitting

I used to work as a tyre fitter and the only thing stopping me from doing my own is a lack of tyre levers, I am still looking around my local independent tyre retailers to see if one of them can help, but as far as the major tyre companies go you might as well forget it, may I just add that I used t...

Yes I have the dreaded oil leak coming from the tappet chest and I would like to know from anyone who has replaced these gaskets, what is the easiest way to replace them, ( do I need to remove the manifolds )
Thanks.

Re: Mirrors

I am still trying to work out how my door mirror is supposed to fit, the upright on the quarter light is the perfect spot but it is impossible to tighten up the Allen screws once it is in place, also if they are not screwed all the way in the glass hits the Allen screws. And of course, there are no ...

Re: anti roll bars

Thank you for your answer, I forgot to add that my Minor has been fitted with telescopic shock absorbers ( front and back ) and as I have not finished the jobs I need to do on her yet, I still haven't driven any distance so cannot say if I feel it needs an anti-roll bar, but of course, all modern ca...
