You are a far kinder, and less twisted, person than I.

Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start
does anybody know what this man was trying to achieve ? I could hazard a guess, but this seems to be a family friendly forum so let's just leave it as "I have questions about his lineage, character, and unevenly developed biceps". If you've got the starting handle, and someone tries to pu...

Re: Combining Accuspark and Sparkrite.
I suppose they can. i have no experience of them, has anyone had a failure? Yep. Well, not me, but someone I know. Thing died in a total loss of spark kind of way. A spare I had got them going. It was spare because I'd given up using the thing. They seem to advance the spark a bit when cranking (pr...

Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start
Your colleague may have been thinking of the water thermostat which can be of different temperature values. I think I read, in an ancient owners handbook for some car or other (probably not a Minor), of a "winter setting" that simply meant turning the air filter around to suck across the ...

Re: Heater
I’ve booked it in tomorrow, he’ll replace it Personally I would be checking first, to determine if that is actually the problem. But there you go, he should know and not potentially saddle you with an unnecessary charge. Although hopefully a 'stat and antifreeze (and no harm having known fresh in t...

Re: Alternative Engines - Just How Dumb A Thought?
... not forgetting the Maestro is a transverse fiting engine so mating it to a Moggie box ( or any other for that matter ) may be problematical.. But not as problematical as fitting one of the spare transverse Metro ones I've got :D Basically I can probably get my hands on a cheap Maestro 1275, tha...

Re: Well This Isn't Ideal...
Sorry if this is a silly suggestion, but... Have you asked the seller whether he still has the cut out section lying around? Don Not all that silly - Originally the deal involved talk of picking over a future donor car. Sadly that future existed in a different timeline... The seller bought this thi...

Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start
Use the cloths peg method for warming up the engine i.e, pull out the choke put a clothes peg between the knob and the facia and push the choke in against the clothes peg. When the engine is warm remove the clothes peg. Works every time. :tu1: A method made easier when your ratcheting choke cable (...

Re: Well This Isn't Ideal...
The hole for the Minor 1000 gearbox is different to that in the split screen so you do need a Minor 1000 floor section. In my honest opinion it will be easier if you can get a S/H Minor 1000 floor section and weld it in. Yeah, welding in the right shaped bit definitely seems the easier approach. It...

Alternative Engines - Just How Dumb A Thought?
So, "rescued" a Minor that someone was part way into fitting a B series and box into. Fitting seemed to mostly mean chopping a chunk of tunnel out, which is going to be so much fun to fix. Anyway, I have a spare Minor gearbox, but no engine. I also have a car that's never going to be compl...

Re: Well This Isn't Ideal...
You may have to do as I did and buy a scrap shell and cut out the floor parts you require. The area you require is more often than not soaked in oil/grease so never rusts away. I had to replace the whole of the transmission tunnel - not through rot but because I had cut away the floor and crossmemb...

Got myself a project. That's currently got an MGB engine and overdrive box in it (not mine, they're coming out when the seller gets round to it). That's all fine, but less fine is whoever fit them them decided it'd be a great idea to hack the bodywork out the way... How big a job have I let myself i...
