Re: Tow bar for Germany
Thanks for the prompt reply, it confirmed pretty much what I already thought. That as Morris Minor tow bars are such a niche item no one would go to the cost and hassle of having their product tested and approved. I could soon whip up a tow bar myself but without a CoC I could not pull anything with...

Tow bar for Germany
I want to tow a teardrop camper with my traveller but it seems that morris tow bars are very rare. What makes the search harder is that Germany loves certificates, if you do not have a certificate then you can not do it, use it or have it. In order to MOT the bar I would have to have a european cert...

Re: Aluminium radiator
After what has been some really hot days in Germany (over 30 C in the shade so easily 40 C off the tarmac) the aluminium radiator has done an excellent job at keeping the engine nice and cool, even at limit on the Autobahn and stop and go in the city. I do not have the comparison to a new "orig...

Re: Aluminium radiator
I have have now fitted the radiator, the only problem was the threads for the mounting bolts were slightly more recessed than on the original so I had to replace the bolts with 4 longer ones. I also replaced the thermostat and water pump, mainly because I do not know how long these parts have been i...

Re: Diff Oil Amount.
Last week I had an oil replacement orgy and changed all the oils. I used just under a litre of oil for the diff until it overflowed. I have a 69 Traveller with the later diff type, so it seems Haynes was spot on with .99 litre.

Aluminium radiator
After having soldered my radiator for the 2nd time and from the look of it it had been in a while and despite flushing is certainly scaled up, and as the car was running a bit too hot, I decided to order a new one. A new one from ESM would have cost me £ 180 and living in Germany customs would have ...

Re: Stainless exhaust
I did weld and drill an end pipe damper, made of scrap I had lying around, which just slipped into the end of the exhaust and thanks to a smart phone app I was able to measure the difference in DBs. Needless to say it made no difference whether it was in or out, either in the measured or the perceive...

Re: Stainless exhaust
I really like the idea of a stainless exhaust, just one thing less to worry about. But I want people looking because of the beauty of a traveller and not because it sounds like a bad boy racer. I will try inserting a DB killer in the end pipe and see if I can just knock the edge off. I will have to ...

Stainless exhaust
After just under 4 years of restoration I now have my traveller back on the road and TÜV tested (German MOT) and I am loving driving around, a moggy ,although seldom, is still a part of the English landscape. But here in Germany it is such an exotic car and doubly so that the steering is on the righ...
