I'm definitely going to do that. Looking at my records, it came from a local auto electrical place and was the cheapest at £6!
Good to end the thread on a high note.

Re: Indicators, but not the usual problem!
Test drive between the showers, all ok on indicators and hazards, so seems to be fixed.

Re: Indicators, but not the usual problem!
Sorry Bill our posts crossed. The unit in the photo was for the hazards that were recently fitted, but I managed to find a thermal 98W hazard relay, so I used that instead, so the one in the photo became a spare. It was pure chance that I decided to try it as a replacement for the previous electroni...

Re: Indicators, but not the usual problem!
Stephen, you've got it exactly right in your description. I was getting to the stage of just fitting an adjustable flasher unit and setting the flash rate manually. I think they're normally used for hyper flash when using LEDs. Glad I don't have to do that. Bernie, I must admit I just changed to the...

Re: Indicators, but not the usual problem!
Hello, well the good news first. I think that by a little guidance and a lot of luck on my part the issue seems to be resolved. The car is up on very secure blocks and the wheels are off, for brake work, now complete, so it was the perfect opportunity to carry out the static tests that have been sug...

Re: Indicators, but not the usual problem!
Just to expand a bit, having confirmed that these units are indeed electronic, I will nevertheless try the matching one I bought from Bill's supplier, who knows, it may work. Brakes are back together now, so if the rain ever stops I'll try it out. In the meantime, I'm still looking for a FL5 thermal...

Re: Indicators, but not the usual problem!
Oh no! I hope the two I've ordered aren't the same. I'll post a photo of the one I take apart. It does explain why the SFB100 from Bowers didn't stop the double flash rate.

Re: Indicators, but not the usual problem!
Thank you both for the speedy responses. Stephen that's very interesting regarding the recently purchased SFB 100. Perhaps there is a bad batch out there. Maybe the one I had was faulty too. Bill, your install is very similar to mine and I too had the flasher in the engine bay, but relocated it to b...

Re: Indicators, but not the usual problem!
Ok, many thanks, your points noted and gratefully received. The reason I believed that the SFB100 supplied by Bowers, was electronic is (a) The delivery note stated electronic SFB100, even though I had ordered a thermal unit. (b) When I queried this, they confirmed this and suggested the alternative...

Re: Indicators, but not the usual problem!
Thanks Bill, but it's an SFB100, which is electronic and flashed at double speed when I drove the car, I think due to EMI/RFI interference from the ignition system, but could be something else?? The logic behind my wish to use a thermal/bi-metallic flasher, rather than suppressing the king lead, is ...

Re: Indicators, but not the usual problem!
Hello, unfortunately I seem to still have the problem described above. I ordered a Lucas SFB100 from H Bowers thinking it was thermal, but turns out it's electronic. I spoke to them and they suggested their product code BRP 502096, just described as a Lucas flasher unit. They thought this unit was t...

Re: Master cylinder brake pipe weeping
Same here regarding pedal travel, but I don't have a servo, in fact I'm not sure if you can have a servo with silicone fluid ( I'm sure I read this somewhere). My modern car has super sharp brakes, so the difference is very noticeable. When I reassemble the brakes with the new pipe and new washers i...

Re: Master cylinder brake pipe weeping
Yes thanks for pointing that out. It's over a year since I did the brakes and I posted the question without fully thinking it out. A bit of frustration on my part, as a couple of unrelated small niggles seem to have appeared at once. I'm happy to receive advice on anything minor related as I'm still...

Re: Master cylinder brake pipe weeping
You're right, Stephen. I've just drained the system and undone the nut. No visible damage to the swaged end and threads look ok, however, I can now see one part of the problem. The hole in the chassis rail is off centre with the banjo bolt, thus not permitting full access to the hex head, even with ...

Master cylinder brake pipe weeping
Hello all, as above really. I changed out the complete braking system last year- grumpy front disc conversion, all new Automec kunifer pipes, new rear cylinders on existing backplates and drums (both refurbished), remote filler reservoir and new genuine master cylinder (rubber bit removed). I decide...

Re: Indicators, but not the usual problem!
Thanks Stephen, for the quick reply. It is a 3 pin (X,L,P) so no earth connection. It's a plastic enclosure with plastic moulded fixings tag. All my bulbs are incandescent, except for a fog lamp and high level third brake light, which were added for safety/visibility reasons,. There is no difference...

Indicators, but not the usual problem!
Hi all, hope someone can shed some light on an indicator problem. I'll explain, My car '61 Traveller, neg earth, alternator conversion, has had the trafficators removed and now has indicators. When doing this I used an electronic relay for longevity. Everything works as intended whilst the engine is...
