Re: Mend and Make Do: Morris Minor MM or Series 2 glove box lid
Well done matey! All for things like this to keep stuff going. My modern classic (MG Express Van) had a plastic sill end cap missing - still obtainable at mega money. Made one out of a roadkill Transit bumper end cap I found in the gutter - Template of the other side reversed, hacksaw, herself's hai...

Re: Running hot
How hot? Before you spend money on expensive kit and throwing the parts bin at it randomly, simple check if it's actually cooling. top hose should be very hot, bottom should be significantly cooler. if not, check the rad itself.

Re: Books on restoring Morris Minors
Couple of pearls of wisdom from the last 50 years Always found a parts book useful. Not for the part numbers, but for the clear definitive pictures that leave you in no doubt what goes where. Sometimes not 100% clear in descriptions and Workshop Manual pictures. With the non factory Workshop Manuals...

Good Friday trip
Hardly noteworthy, but testament to these little marvels that we all love. The Traveller had not moved much all winter, 50 mile tops. Much of the time I couldn't even get it out due to work going on behind it. So yesterday on a whim, over 100 miles to Matlock Bath and back. Never missed a beat and p...

Re: Lacquer
Yes, they are known as 'Clear over Base'. Your paint supplier will explain how they can supply it and in which form, Cellulose, 1k acrylic, 2k C over B and 2k one coat that dries super shiny, almost wet look. There's also the modern water based, which is not really for home use. I think the straight...

Re: Unbelieveable
I'm going to play devils advocate here. Yes, people are unrealistic in their expectations of price, especially with basket cases and unfinished/abandoned projects. BUT... Potential buyers inflame the situation with both derisory offers and attitude. Politeness, realistic offers and the ability to ar...

Re: US resale market
In the last few days I read a post on here (unsure how to find it now) on Minors never quite taking off and being successful in the States. If that were true, would this impact resale value/return on Investment?

Re: Engine cutting out after not driven for a year.
Basically, a car is just a big working (or not) model of the Fire prevention triangle. Remember the mandatory fire lecture you dozed off in? So, to recap, Fuel, Oxygen, Ignition. Remove one, and it don't happen. So, after storage there's a good chance on of the three elements has gone awol. So, if y...

Re: Wrong Vin number in log book and engine bay
If the vehicle is old , the change from logbook to computer threw up many transcript errors, usually one one digit out. with a bit of evidence, never had a problem with the DVLA correcting it. My log book had one digit shorter than the plate, sent a photo and they sorted it. Why not pay for a printo...
