Took out the glass today, fairly easy, no damage done, all the seals were shot.

svenedin wrote: Tue Oct 18, 2022 3:24 pm That’s 4 years ago though? Petrol goes off in 6 months….You can add a stabiliser to the fuel though. It seems to work for the fuel I keep for garden equipment but fresh fuel is best.
Oh I have run the engine though

Re: My first time

OP mentioned getting a replacement fuel pump. Couple of things I’d suggest before installing that. Drain the old fuel out via the petrol tank drain plug underneath the car. The fuel is bound to have gone off and likely bits of rust in there. Replace with fresh fuel and remember to add a lead replac...

Re: My first time

svenedin wrote: Mon Oct 17, 2022 7:46 pm Definitely really quite non-standard in that engine bay. As mentioned there's a brake servo but I also notice an alternator rather than a dynamo, something odd with the heater take off and you mention the fuel pump but from what I can see of it, it isn't the standard SU fuel pump.

Re: Back seat

The backrest (upright part) is no different between a 2door car and a 4door car BUT the backrest part differs with the age of the vehicle. They were taller up to around late 1964 after which the backrest was a little shorter and didn't stand up so high. One benefit of this is that it is easier to f...

Back seat

Is the 2 door back seat the same as the 4 door back seat? Especially the base?

Re: My first time

Heavy duty wire brushes for the grinder work well in cleaning metal back and finding any rotten areas. Some smaller and different shaped ones for the end of a drill are good for getting into all the nooks and crannies. Looking forward to seeing your progress in due course. Ya plus a good day with t...

Re: My first time

There's a fair bit of welding to be done there, a good challenge but certainly not impossible. Most of the panels you can get now are decent quality and fit. How are you intending to prep the shell before welding ? I'd recommend sand blasting - even just the underneath and the wheel arches. It find...

Re: My first time

That's a heck of a project there, credit to you for taking it on and it's always nice to see the "pre-op" photos. I'd find it difficult to decide which way to go. Being that it already has some modifications, I'd probably not try to make it original but to tidy them up, give it an engine ...

Re: My first time

Well it's been given non-standard brakes including a servo. Not a typical after-market Lucas one though, it's a system off another car completely. Interesting place to keep a spare Ign Coil... News to me about the brakes but everyday is going to be a school day, ya the ignition coil was a ver...
