Re: Carpet Set Recommendation Required

Thanks, all.

BTW - I ordered some part from Andrew Eggleton and they came with a Moss Europ invoice!

Carpet Set Recommendation Required

All. The Moggie needs a new carpet set, the interior really lets it down! Moss want £230, but there are some on eBay about a hundred quid less... (I know you get what you pay for), but wondered if anyone had tried these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155711272410?itmmeta=01HRVSSVEFJS8F4VDD4XRPGWCT&...

Rapid Indicator Speed - Not a Bulb!

Morning, all. I have a silly problem with the 1970 Morris. The right hand indicator flashes as it should, but the left hand flashes at twice the speed. There is no bulb out on the left. All 5 lamps work (inc. the tell-tale)- I've replaced the relay, but it doesn't make any difference. Any thoughts?!...

All.

Granted, not the best photo, but a really nice looking saloon in a mushroom colour I didn’t recognise in Icklesham, East Sussex last night! Reg was YAS something!

Re: Fitting an aluminium GB plate to car

Ah! What a stupid idea!

I shall try it in Sainsbury's first! I wondered if the plates had to be of a reflective material for the camera to 'see' them, otherwise sign writing etc could be read in theory...!

Re: Fitting an aluminium GB plate to car

Is it the still smarting EU that has made us go UK because GB is too much 'great' for them ?!

Also, I'm wondered if ali plates won't appear on ANPR ?

Re: Timing chain replacement

All. I thought I'd carry on this thread rather than start a new one. I too am having valve timing anxiety! Am reassembling 1098 following machining... and need to clarify something - and I acknowledge I'm being pedantic - but it comes from not having done this for 30 years :) Once I've clarified thi...

So we compromised with this! Slight grinding away with a tungsten dremel bit.
Happy now the oil can get there OK!

Re: Rear Main Bearing Issue

Thanks for advice. I think my main concern is that by simple logic the rear main is going to get 1/2 the oil it needs when compared to the other two mains!

Re: Rear Main Bearing Issue

Hi. The engine is a 1098, and the company that worked on the block removed the old shells and provided the new! So I don't have them and I doubt they do. I've ordered a set of shells from Moss and they look the same when offered up. I think I'm going to have to modify the shells, but there must be a...

Re: Rear Main Bearing Issue

Thanks for reply. Interesting, the 3 hex screws don’t have holes or lock wire so must have been apart at some point. I shall nip to the right torque and leave. This picture prob shows better what I mean about the bearing shell. It looks like the whole thing is too offset - only 1/2 the oil way is fr...

Rear Main Bearing Issue

All. Started to rebuild the engine today, or rather, was going to. Stopped because the mains I’d been given look wrong for the rear. The oilway doesn’t line up and the shell overhangs its seat. Also, the three retaining bolts of the crank rear retainer don’t have a torque setting yet they look too i...

Re: Radiator Lettering

So continuing with the "cooling fan colour dilemma", I went and bought the rad warning stencil from ESM. I seem to remember it was a grey/yellow colour? Anyone have a pic of an original car with it? Thanks.

Re: Fan blade paint

All.. Having my engine currently in bits, I too had the fan colour dilemma! After much searching am happy with 'Signal Gold', RAL 1003. (Here slapped on the reinforcer plate against the original blade) I bought 1/2 a litre in an enamel so I could brush it on. I figure it will be more hardy than an a...
