Re: Ominous Engine Signs? (magnetic sump plug)
After 3000miles/12 months I wouldn't expect oil to be dirty black if previous oil changes were also done regularly.

Re: Electric Fuel Pump SU v Hardi
Would it be useful to do a survey on here of those who have fitted Hardi's and their experiences. A limited number of posts on FB is not much of a scientific approach with some facts and a smattering of assumption and guesswork.

Black Speedometer Sender Ohms Range
Can anyone please confirm the Ohms range for the Black Speedo sender unit? I've asked at a supplier and they say 1.6 to 80. I'm sure I've read somewhere it's something like 17 to 220.

Re: 5-30 synthetic oil
5W-30 Motor Oil 5W-30 oil is best for vehicles that are regularly driven in colder climates where temperatures can fall below 0 degrees Fahrenheit. It is a light oil that will circulate through an engine faster than a more dense grade and is designed for use in colder climates where cold engine star...

The assembly needs to be set as per the diagram with a 0.001 to 0.004 bearing protrusion.

Re: Speedometer Compatibility
If I change my Bronze 4407/00 1504 for a Black 4423/04 1408 it will obviously need recalibration with my 4.55 diff but what will need to done with the fuel gauge? I am aware that the sender units are different. So will a later sender unit work with the black speedo? Do I need a voltage stabiliser?

Re: Speedometer Compatibility
Apologies for the error. Here is the correct listing.
4407/00 Traveller, 4467/00?, 4445/15 Traveller. These are Bronze, 1504, 80MPH and 4.55 diff.
4423/00 LCV is Black, 1504, 90MPH, 4.55 diff.
Would all of these be interchangeable whether 948 or 1098 gearbox and if light configuration is irrelevant?

Speedometer Compatibility
On the Potteries site for a 4.55 diff there are 4 speedos. Three are bronze numbered SN4407/00, SN4467/00, SN445/15 and are 80MPH. The fourth is black SN4467/00 and is 90MPH. All are1504 TPM.
Does anyone know the significance of the SN designations?
Are all four interchangeable?

Re: Engine rebuild
You are right Les as it it widely known that the majority of good quality restorations will not make money on any car let alone a Moggy. TV programmes like Wheeler Dealers are misleading and take little account of the man hour costs even if you consider these to be free if done by yourself. Any deci...
