Re: Fitting alternator

While looking to replace my faulty neg earth dynamo I've seen a brand new one for sale at ESM for £63 and a brand new alternator for £53, I have also asked my local auto electric place if they could repair/service my original one which they can but the cost will be between £90 - £110. So it seems a ...

Re: age old tyre question

Why replace perfectly good tyres? Are you going to be competing in racing or rallying or time trials do you drive at 100mph? no, obviously up to the individual but if you have £300 burning a hole in your pocket and have nothing better to spend it on go ahead but i would just make sure my spare is up...

Re: Noisy clutch

Steve 1.It sounds as though it is your clutch thrust bearing that's getting towards it sell by date. Any idea how old the clutch set up is ? Any other symptoms , difficulty engaging gear. People usually change the clutch plate and Thrust bearing at the same time. The bits will usually wear out at a...

Regards John
If it were layshaft bearings would this noise stop when the clutch pedal was depressed?

Noisy clutch

Hi all, Two quick MM questions, 1, we have a kind of whiring noise when our car is idling that diminishes when the clutch pedal is depressed, would this be the thrust bearing or could it be something else? The clutch operates perfectly other than being noisy 2, why do most people on here recommend r...

Re: Pictures

The damage to the Nissan looked superficial, just a scuff on the plastic 'bumper' but underneath - well. Later on I phoned the guy to get some further details from him, he was in A&E and had just come out of X-ray - wrist broken in three places :o You can see in the skid marks where he hit me. ...

Our minor's final drive seems to have a lot of whip or slack movement, not sure how to measure it but it seems like at least an inch of free movement each way, while the car drives reasonably well you can hear and feel the slack when changing gear. Can the diff be overhauled or will it be scrap? Wha...
