Re: MOT & how else would you prove roadworthy…..
I worked for a major manufacturer and when we introduced spring loaded ball joints we had to have dealer tool with service bulletin. It compressed the joint until bottomed then measure gap between pads with feeler guage. All this was because testers used a priebar and said joint had excess play, eve...

It still only means ok on that day you still need the experience feel and regular checks to be safe for the rest of the year. I prefer to do my own regular checks. An mot examiner would not be able to see anything that I could not check myself.

Re: Electrical help
I would suggest connecting via RCD for safety.
It should be quite happy with cable length as supplied fitted to the pump.

https://www.vintagetyres.com/vehicle-make/morris/morris-minor-saloon-and-traveller I see if you went Carmac you could get them from blackcircles.com for the princely sum of £431.12 for four, including fitting at your home (compared to £330 not fitted from vintage tyre), last time I checked blackcir...

Gentlemen - thank you for your replies. As Bridgestones appear to be unavailable, Blockley seems to be the answer - good price too! :D mine came with Camac's fitted and after a year I replaced them with the same, because worn. Never had an issue and disagree about the quality, they are made in Port...

Re: Running hot
In my opinion assuming your running a water antifreeze mix or ready mixed coolant then it all seems fine. As stated previously don't overfill the radiator and check daily when cold during use so you know you are not losing water. If you are concerned then fit a temperature gauge for peace of mind. D...

Re: Running hot
Maybe the op is measuring the top of the radiator that's not in contact with coolant so gives a higher reading. There can also be a variance in reading due to the reflectivity of the surface when using a temp gun. Water boils at 212°F (100°C) at sea level. Coolant and antifreeze: A 50/50 mix of coo...

We visited Normandy during the 80th anniversary and to see the standing with giants display, which we had seen at Stow, very moving.

As a rule I would follow your rule of the ruler but as you have admitted bending the rule, then you are being unruly.
It's therefore been ruled by our ruler that you should not brake the rules, so he has ruled that you will be ruled as officially un-ruled.

The best thing I ever got was an SPQR tappet adjuster. It has saved me no end of time and frustration.SPQR copy.jpg Agree. A fantastic tool that I use too. Stephen I have a question on the use of the SPQR Tool. If 8 Clicks sets it for 12thou, how do you set it for 15thou to allow for modern fuel......

Good luck with you Minor
It's only an opinion but don't get too wrapped up in originality rather than usability. Unless of course showing it is your main aim, rather than the fun of driving it.

In a similar idea, handle stowed it a normal ratchet, when released pumping the handle drives the square drive. 20250604_133825.jpg20250604_133758.jpg [Never seen one of those before , are they 1/2 Drive ? ] Yes it's standard half inch drive, which pushes through to reverse ratcheting direction. 20...

As you say Les, no tools are specific to our cars unless you are talking dealer special tools. Personally I've been gathering my tool kit for 55 years and in the past made my living with them. Now just maintaining a friends classic cars and my own vehicles but I still buy tools that make jobs easier...
