My Morris Minor Splitscreen

Here is my 56 morris minor. It's getting a lot of work done. This is just a small amount of the work it's getting, but the car mechanically is one of the best A-Series engines I've ever seen, and the A-Series is original

My Morris Minor

Okay, so for you who don't know, I bought a third Morris Minor in September time a 1956 Split Screen, and it looks like it was good well; since my last post on the vehicle, a few things have happened. Someone went and rear-ended it and just drove off, leaving the parked car pushed slightly into the ...

Re: 50s and 60s modifications ideas

Personalising a car is exactly that. Personal. 2 people will hardly ever agree on what is tasteful and desirable! A grille muff is one thing I remember being a common thing - as well as a fog lamp and a reversing lamp. As somebody has already said, parking lights were very common too - in fact I th...

Re: 50s and 60s modifications ideas

Have a look in old magazines like Car Mechanics from the 1950s 1960s and you will get plenty of ideas of what modifications/alterations are or were available. I’ll have to dig them out want modifications that make the car my own but still has the originality of the 50s Split screen don’t want to ha...

MorrisJohn wrote: Tue Oct 05, 2021 9:07 am Has anyone ever seen a front seatbelt installation like this? I’ve only ever seen them just a few inches behind the drivers seat, rather than on the upright?
I’m thinking of Lap Seatbelts for mine as it currently has that sort of seat belt and after about 50 minutes starts giving shooting pain

Re: Bought a moggy

5 speed gearbox ? just change the differential a gearbox with your small engine wont help Which is what people are saying, but the OP still says he's going to change the gearbox! Check the diff first and if its one for an 803cc, swap it out for a 1098 one. Then it will perform like a normal 1098cc ...

Re: Bought a moggy

I’ve driven another car one and it seems that the gearbox on my is geared to the point that it’s at full revs at 60 50 but shoots up hills I agree with the others, whatever you do gearbox-wise, it would pay to make sure that when they fitted the 1098 they changed the axle / diff to suit. You need a...

Re: Bought a moggy

She’s a 1098 Before you go spending out on a 5 speed conversion, why not drive her around on the 1098 gearbox for a while first. I fitted a type 9 ford box to one of mine a few years back, well in the end two, both supposedly rebuilt, both broke. In the end I swapped back to the 1098 style 'ribbed'...

Re: Bought a moggy

I know the car was in the club from 1993 to 2018 but not 93 is the earliest date and 2018 is the latest Sorry, but... What? How is any of that relevant to your earlier comment, about the engine? Were you originally trying to say that : A - The car is currently a 1098, and that B - You've also got t...

Re: Bought a moggy

She’s a 1098 got the original engine I don’t think it’s ever rebuilt I plan on fitting a hidden aerial in the wing so I don’t have to fit one that’s visible Impossible! As a Series II Split Screen, 1956, it was originally an 803 Engine. The 1098 was the last engine used, from '62 to '71. An interes...

Re: Bought a moggy

Plan on getting a radio and 5 speed beside that keeping is standard If you get a stick on window aerial you won't even need to drill holes in the bodywork, plus they work just fine. Link below: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373668817037?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item570065a88d:g:LVAAAOSw3XxhB~fS&...
