Re: Engine Cutting Out
As promised, here's an update on the problem. Tilly is now back from my local "magician's workshop" with a very sore smacked bottom! It turned out that it was the electronic ignition module that was causing the problem (Lumenition). Having bought the car from Charles Ware in October 2021, ...

Re: Engine Cutting Out
With my limited knowledge (enhanced of course by members on here!), and my lack of ability l am now totally flummoxed. "Tilly" will be going to my local classic car magician - over 50 years experience - next week for a proper diagnosis and smacked bottom! Once she has recovered, I will let...

Re: Engine Cutting Out
I am taking all the points made on board. It's slow progress at the moment due to it being a bit too cold to work outside -it was -0.2 overnight here in the Highlands. I have however ordered and awaiting a float bowl kit from ESM. I will let you all know the outcome one way or another.

Re: Engine Cutting Out
Again thanks for all the helpful info posted. In the interim I have just changed the fuel pump and coil but the problem still persists! For instance, on initial start up the engine runs fine. On allowing the car to tick over at rest, after about 30 seconds it just cuts out. Start again, same symptom...

Re: Engine Cutting Out
Indicators still work during engine cut out time. I thought that if it was fuel related, the engine might have stuttered rather than cut out abruptly.
Again thanks for all the pointers

Re: Engine Cutting Out
Thanks for advice. Will carry out checks and monitor situation. The problem mainly occurs after a short, 3-4 weeks, lack of activity. After a run out, Tilly behaves herself. Perhaps it's damp?

Engine Cutting Out
Following on from Dotty's car not starting: my 1275cc, electronic ignition, negative earth car, starts and runs for a short while then suddenly dies and then picks up again. Its definitely an electrical problem as, when it dies (sometimes in an embarrassing traffic situation) the electronic rev coun...

Traveller Rear Window sliding channels
I am in the process of replacing all the sliding window channels in my Traveller. Windows are out and have cleaned out the drain holes in the lower wood sections. Is it necessary/advisable to make corresponding holes in the new lower channels before fixing?

Engine identification plate
My Traveller had a Marina 1275 engine fitted when I bought it 6 months ago. I have noticed that the engine identification plate is missing, although I do know the number from paperwork. Is there a way that a new plate can be obtained, stamped with the correct number for installation?

Steering Wheel lock nut
Can someone please tell me the correct size socket for the steering wheel lock nut? I wonder if a metric size is close enough as that would probably be easier to obtain?
