Have you checked the pressure relief valve?

beware lot of fake NGK plugs around

could be loose backplate

Could be a clutch ploblem?

BRAKE FADE IS USUALLY CAUSED BY HEAT,AND DRUMS EXPANDING MEANING THE PEDAL GOES FARTHER DOWN WHEN DEPRESSED

Back a few years we used to blow out brake drums etc with the airline!!!!!!

ON THE NEARSIDE OF ENGINE AT REAR OF BLOCK BEHIND EX/PIPE THE SIZE IS CAST IN BLOCK

Normal procedre isCIC
COMPRESSION
IGNITION
CARBURATION

Should make no difference

I have pattern M/CYL but it has been resleeved with a stainless sleeve and it is working perfectly,I guess back to standard size

Geoberni Sure you can select any gear when engine is not running,but my point is that you stated you started engine and let clucht up slowly.

I f clutch was stuck as soon as you started the car would drive forward

surely if you have a too much free play in pedal, the clutch is not freeing.
Geoberni h0w did you start your Viva in gear if clutch was stuck??

BOTTEM CAN NOT BE CHECKED BY PUSHING ON PISTONS.SUMP NEEDS TO BE REMOVED

Could it possibly be the spigot bearing,have known it on other vechicles

Not long nose pliers,a special tool I think from Sykes-Pickavant

In my toolbox I have a special tool for fitting these springs(simples)

No idea about holes but I notice no engine tie bar,and different heater pipe arrangement
