Re: recommending engine oil.

On the subject of magnts

I found old PC hard drive magnets are extremely strong!

Used a couple zip tied to the outside of the disco oil filter for years

They will hold each other through a 2 inch counter top.
Even off road.

Re: Garage lights

As for inspection lamps, I have a couple

For work I have a ring RIL8100 from Halford. Β£21, or less if you have access to a trade cardπŸ™„ and does work while on charge

One at home is a Phillips one but that was nearer the 60 quid mark

Thanks for the replies all Bill_qaz those links have given me some food for thought as I'd not seen them before.πŸ‘ Moggiethouable, yes I do enjoy the relaxed pace and we want to keep the originality but the buckles can be a pain to adjust despite being cleaned and lubricated πŸ˜• Don't plan on modernisi...

Right, seatbelts!

Hi all A contentious subject. I currently have the original standard seatbelts in Betty, non factory convertible, that I'd like to replace Now I know there's loads to choose from, from different colours to static and inertia. All the recommended inertia belts I've seen seem to have a long stalk that...

Re: Sunvisors

Martin I repaired mine A bit fiddly but definitely doable We had some plastic type board, from hobby craft, it's white thin plastic over a sort of foam. I carefully split the original cover along the top edge seam using a v sharp blade. Once you have the frame out I just made up a template from that...

Re: baffled now (it does not take much!)

Hmmm, strange to say the least.

As you have changed the ignition switch I'd start looking at the area behind the Speedo, as this is where it's more likely to have moved any wiring.

Easy to dislodge something when refitting

Re: baffled now (it does not take much!)

Well, until someone with more knowledge than I comes along, Sounds like a short somewhere possibly on the voltage regulator/stabiliser. Check any cabling going thru the bulkhead etc for chafing Intermittent usually means something is vibrating and rubbing thru IMHO A cheap test meter is well worth t...

Interior trim

Hi all
I've seen an ad for a full duotone interior set for our convertible for about half the cost from Newton etc. Based in the UK around Cambridgeshire

Anyone had any dealings of a similar offer?

Good or bad but keeping within board guidelines

Eezi outs, we've all done it!

Yup, there goes another door hinge screw

Went carefully with the eezi out but ping!

Tried all sorts but don't have the welder at home just now to try welding a nut onto the stub of thread left

So who's got three screws in the hinge then?

{Sigh}

Not 7ft tall, but I forget how low the bonnet catch is and whack the back of me 'ead when I stand up.

My own fault really as I'm more used to the lifted discovery!

Don't you just love...

Starting a job when you get home from work in brilliant sunshine, and end up finishing in the dark with missus holding two torches!

Still, at least that's a replacement driver's door lock assembly replaced for an extremely worn one :D
