Re: Trafficators
My '58 two door has trafficators fitted with flashing LEDs, and they certainly appear to be immediately understood by all (which they never were with the original non-flashing bulbs!). It also has flashers which I only ever use for turning right at roundabouts, as the trafficators are outside the fi...

Air filters
It just occurred to me that, as Morris changed the Minor air filter a few times, is any one type actually better in any way than the others?

Re: New key, new problem.
Yes, I realise you require the early type which is just an ignition switch - hence typing that into google NOT ebay. Why limit yourself to searching on ebay? Most search engines will do exactly that - and search!! I did search Google, and called many minor specialists - all were out of stock and di...

Re: modern ish cars on e10 fuel
My Ford Fiesta (2015), Morris Minor (1961) & Land Rover 3.9 V8 (Carbs) all drive exactly the same as before. Seems very odd that these relatively modern vehicles should be coughing and spluttering. Mine is on a 17 plate. Runs absolutely fine as I said above. When I see these horror stories, I d...

Re: modern ish cars on e10 fuel
My 1.0 three pot Ford Focus was doing 47.2 mpg on 98 octane. On E10 it's doing 47.3mpg. All fuel has been bought from the same petrol station, so there's no difference in brand. If anything, I'd have expected mpg to drop purely because it's now winter(ish), which means more running on the modern equ...

Re: New key, new problem.
Yes, I realise that. Mine is the same. Out of interest, I googled "Morris Minor Ignition Switch". There seems to be no shortage of them for sale? Yes, late type (no starter button) are easy to find new and used. Early type (starter button) can be found used on eBay without keys, but try f...

Re: New key, new problem.
I agree about the (lack of) security - by today's standards anyway - but is it really that difficult to get hold of a replacement ignition switch now? Perhaps I've been particularly lucky but I've never had any problem getting parts for my Minors. It seems it's easy to get the later switch with thr...

Re: WHATS THIS PIPE?
Difficult to guess without seeing it, but if it's the fuel line, that would explain the car not starting. Was there a smell of petrol?

Re: New key, new problem.
So, I've managed to get the switch out, given it some WD40, and a couple of taps, but still no joy. As it's in the 'off' position, I've no chance of getting the barrel out. Seems these two position switches come up on eBay, but not with keys, and I've already got one that won't turn... Here's hoping...

New key, new problem.
So, I cleverly decided it might be nice to have a spare set of keys. The door/boot one works fine, but then I tried the ignition key, which seemed slightly notchy as it went in, but it won't turn. Never mind, I thought, I've still got the old one! Well, now that won't turn either, and it's now also ...

Re: Interior opinions needed
I'd be surprised if my interior was the original, unless it was extremely well looked after, but boy, does it have 'that' smell! As for the seats - my driver's seat is certainly not modern, but it's not what the good people at Morris fitted either. I was told it was from a Wolseley 1500, although it...

Re: Chassis number
Well, having double checked the V5, it does show a P, which apparently is Pale Ivory. If that is correct, something strange appears to have happened, as that colour wasn't available until a few months after mine found its first owner... So, how did mine leave the factory painted a colour that wouldn...

Re: Chassis number
It should be quoted on your documentation such as the V5C and more recent MOT test receipts. What's happened to the chassis number plate as that would obviously have it! By quoting the car number to the British Motor Museum at Gaydon, you could get a Heritage Certificate and that would provide the ...

Re: Chassis number
As I understand it, the number on that plate is the number stamped onto the car body itself (body number?) preceded by numbers/letters that identify the body style, colour, etc. I've got the number that's stamped onto the actual body, and I'd like to know what the complete version on that plate shou...

Chassis number
Does anyone know what should precede the body number on a 1958 2 door in cream?
I've looked at the information on the potteries mmoc, and although it does show that cream was a colour offered at the right time, it doesn't have a paint code for cream.
