All Sorted! Gave up in end with finding prob and just started again. Took both headlight circuits out inc. switch and re wired them in individually cleaning each contact and earth as i went. When complete i tested the switch and IT WORKED!!!!! Thank you all for advice and help it was much appreciate...

looking at back of engine bay where the wires go under car to the dipper switch there were 3 bullet connector sleeves for each wire to switch all fused together through perrishing of age. now these were replaced with individual sleeves for each wires is this right or should one have been a double or...

Have tested switch: i put a wire from battery direct to central terminal (bottom left with other 2 diagonally facing it) with croc. clips and then used a circuit tester (wire with bulb on end) on each terminal to test if power was switching when i opperated the switch. and it did so my switch has it...

Thanks... Is yours not a triangle then.

Am now having the problem that all my wires are going in to the right bullet sleeves and all earths are sound and dipstick is working but the lights don't want to dip. they seem to be permanently on main beam!

There is one terminal which has a small arrow in the black plastic pointing to it. Is this indicating where the live feed goes.

cheers buddy. 1 last question-

the dipper switch on floor in car looking at back of it the blue wire (live feed). does this go on the contact point with the small arrow pointing next to it. the pins are in an L shape

so at that double bullet sleeve where all the blue/white wires converge it doesn't matter which wire goes in which hole in sleeve.

this is prob i'm having. I took wires out, replaced the bullet connector sleeve but can't remeber which holes either side the wires went in to.

HELP! Wiring for headlights

I am having trouble with wiring back the headlights on my 1958 minor 1000 (948cc) I am ok on what colours are which circuit (blue/white for main beam etc) but at the double bullet connector sleeve jtn. of main beam circuit i can't remeber where each wire is suposed to go. :cry: I have 4 wires going ...
