Re: Clutch slave cylinder
Thanks Phil. I’ve got an adjustable rod and a Minispares account, so it looks like I’m sorted

Clutch slave cylinder
Hi
I’ve just converted my Smooth cased box to hydraulic clutch but stupidly used an old Mini clutch slave cylinder that now leaks. It worked OK but I’d rather use the proper MM/A35/Spridget part this time.
What is the part number I need to use when ordering?
Many thanks

Re: bleeding rear brakes
It's OK, I've looked on the internet....please correct me if I'm wrong but I need (on each side) a brass banjo and a banjo bolt to fit onto each of the rear slave cyls
Cheers

bleeding rear brakes
Hi, My trials special utilises MM rear brakes and I'm currently fitting the brakeline system. Have I gone mad or am I right in thinking there is no bleed nipple on the rear brakes? How will I be able to expel the air when everything is finally connected? I suspect there is a glaring issue I have mis...

Re: A30/35 propshaft
I removed the u/j from the front and it fitted easily. HOWEVER, once cleaned, greased and reassembled, it (the u/j) does not move quite as easily as it did before I took it apart. QUESTION... if one of the needle rollers fell over into the end of the cup during reassembly, would the u/j still move a...

Re: A30/35 propshaft
Thanks.
It WAS me being incompetent, then...It hurts but that's much cheaper than having to buy a propshaft

Re: A30/35 propshaft
Yes it will be cut and shut anyway because it is going into a special.
I suppose what I am saying is...does an A30/35 propshaft fit onto a smooth remote MM box?
Does the gearbox's drive spigot's splines correspond with the propshaft's splines?
thanks

A30/35 propshaft
Hi I've been kindly given an A30/35 propshaft for my smooth case remote 948 gearbox. I only need the front coupling and U/J, however it appears the MM gearbox output shaft is wider than the "female" A30/35 coupling on the propshaft. Is this correct or is it me not lining up the splines pro...

Re: hydraulic clutch system
Thanks all. I am now wiser than I was 24 hours ago. I shall try these things and see. I was just hoping not too spend to much on immediately redundant cylinders and get it right first time. The "A40 solution" looks like a starting point. Cheers, T

hydraulic clutch system
Hi I have a few questions about my 948 attached to a smooth remote gerbox in a trials car (i.e. not a Morris Minor)... Which combination of master cylinder and slave cylinder should I look for? I think I need a 3/4" bore m/cyl with a 7/8" slave (Mini) but I realise that there are probably ...

fitting a clutch slave cylinder
Hello, for reasons of getting-things-to-fit, I have to fit a slave cylinder to my smooth 950 box. Drilling and tapping out the lugs already on the box is the easy bit but how/what do I use to push/move the actual clutch lever? Has anyone got a photo of the set-up? Is there a specific part number for...

inlet manifold angle
Hi, I know that you cannot use a Mini inlet manifold on an inline application because it angles the top of the carb up so it hits the bonnet but on my inline application, this is not an issue...just. However as a matter of interest how much higher is the top of the HS2 or HS4 carb (the piston damper...

Re: Rear drums
The rear wheel cylinders must be able to slide in the slot of the back plate so as to enable the brake shoes to centralise inside the brake drum. Any good yacht chandlers with a rigging shop should be able to swage a ferrule onto the brake cable inner wire in the position you desire. Thanks very much

Re: Rear drums
Tim Many thanks for the above. To get the brake wheel cylinders to the front you could swop the brakes from side to side. An easy mod and no complications. Phil Thanks but in the pursuit of service-ability at the venue, I'm going to keep them at the back. By-the-way, should the slave cylinders be f...

Re: Rear drums
Thanks Phil. I have given up circuit racing the Mini Cooper S and intend to go hillclimb/sprinting in the future (it was how I started motorsport in my dad's Ginetta G15). The Cannon sporting trials car had been lying around for years and it looks like a lot of fun, so I thought I'd do it up and com...

Re: Rear drums
Observations! The Minor axle is not fitted to a Minor but to either a trials car or special. Because of the application the brakes are not orientated around the axle as per Minor. i.e. the brake wheel cylinder is not forward of the axle. Conclusions! The brake springs are fitted correctly as in pho...

This side looks a lot more “correct” and there’s no slop in that “smaller” spring.

Re: Rear drums
Re your reference to the lower spring - there is no lower spring. There are two vertical springs. The front spring has a top and bottom coil. The rear spring has just one coil. Have you fitted the springs into the right holes in the brake shoes? A photo of the brake shoe set up as fitted would be h...
