Re: The Story of Mog
What a beautufully written account of the story of Mog. I think this resonates with so many because these cars are not just the make or model, but there are so many cherished life events wrapped up with growing up with a Morris Minor, and memories, many including people no longer with us. As a resul...

EBF 475H
I was idly loading the registration numbers of Morrises I have owned over the years and I see EBF 475H is SORN and had a new V5C issued a year ago. If the owner is a club member and would like some history going back to the 1970s (the car was 4 years old when I bought it!) let me know. One small pro...

Re: Synthetic engine oils
Yes that makes sense. I'll continue using the Penrite oil. I also change it every year even if the car has done 500 miles in that time, due to the lack of an oil filter. The engine in my 1948 MM lacks both oil filter and water pump. (Amazingly the car does not overheat on 35C days, the circulation o...

Re: Synthetic engine oils
That's interesting, I was advised to avoid modern oils with a high content of detergent in them. For my 1948 MM with sidevalve motor I use Penrite Shelsey Medium (the car and I are located in Australia). Is that just marketing or a good idea? Is the A series engine a different story, being made up t...

Re: WVK 722H
Yes it has the 4.5 van rims and 145x14 Michelin X radials for daily use but I also have the 3 inch wide rims with 5.20x14 crossplies for club shows.

Re: WVK 722H
Hi folks, Just thought you might like to know the Traveller WVK722H has arrived safely in Adelaide, Australia and will be enjoying the sunny Adelaide Hills for club runs from now on. Attached is a photo of it arriving at a damp Port Adelaide, and alongside my other car, a 1948 MM, making a small but...

Re: Travellers now back to the level of 10 years ago!
Hi Phillip,
Yes I gather the previous long term owner was Vince Curry and I would like to write to him. I have an address on an old V5 near Gateshead. Are you able to PM me and I could send a message you might pass on? Regards Richard

Re: Travellers now back to the level of 10 years ago!
I’m sorry to say there is one less in the UK now. Travellers are really rare in Australia, they were never sold here. The car shown, WVK722H has decided to emigrate in her old age and is in a container, heading to Adelaide as I write. She will be looked after here.

Thank you. As I thought, I will leave be and carry spare condenser, fuel pump and points, as I have always done.

Electronic ignition worthwhile?
I suspect this topic has been discussed many times before, so forgive me, but I'm relearning the joy of driving a Morris. Anyway... is there any point in installing electronic ignition and fuel pump in a totally standard 1098cc Traveller which is driving fine. It's still +ve earth, so very standard....

Re: 1948 MM arrived
Yes it is Bob and Lorraine’s old car. Bob sadly passed away last year. I spoke to Lorraine and she sent me photos of its restoration in the 1980s. It’s doing great service, took it to the beach last weekend! Do you know the car?

Re: WVK 722H
They were never marketed in Australia. Not sure why, we did get saloons, vans, pickups. They all tend to be early models as the Minor was replaced by the Morris Major around 1962. Looks similar to the Riley of that time

Re: WVK 722H
Thanks Phillip, these Travellers are so rare in Australia, but the price is too high, even with the Aussie dollar a bit stronger against the pound. I hope when we can travel again I will return to the UK to find a Traveller to bring back...

WVK 722H
Hi there,
I have seen this for sale, an eye watering price. Does look stunning, however. Is it known to anyone in the club?

Re: Long engine stabiliser
Thanks geoberni, you are right, my question was vague. I was wondering if there was any point in removing the factory installed short stabiliser for the longer one. I suppose the answer to that is no, if the original is in good condition. I did not realise early A series engines lacked the stabilise...

I saw this Traveller for sale. Looks very tidy. I’ve never seen the longer engine stabiliser bar. Has anyone else?
