Re: Fitting brake back plates
Update, so my official Morris Minor workshop manual calls the rear offside, the 'RH' or Right Hand, and the rear nearside the 'L/H or Left hand. Double doh!!....So despite my thinking the drain holes don't match up, on checking, they actually seem to as I can see bright metal through the small hole....

Fitting brake back plates
Hi, in moving hubs over to the new axle case, I misunderstood the stupid r/h or l/h labelling system rather than o/s and n/s. Tried to find out before fitting but just could not find out what they meant, e.g. looking forward or backward. So as my drain holes don't line up, do I have to take them off...

Thanks. Just looking forward to getting it going now, a long slog trying to work in the open on the drive with all this bl**dy rain and wind...

Re: Rear axle repair
Is the axle from a 1968 traveller the same as one from my 1962 saloon? Thanks

Re: Rear axle repair
Been looking but nothing so far. Mine seems in reasonable condition as is the rest of the car, just rusted where dirt was able to build up and now it's leaking. I think if I can get the thing out anyway that will give me a better idea.

Re: Rear axle repair
Thanks will bear in mind. Have been looking online but nothing so far and condition of a replacement could be an issue. Mine I think has a different ration to standard. It might also mean swapping all the other parts over. I think it's in pretty good condition aside from where the leak is, as a resu...

Rear axle repair
Thought I posted this but maybe not? Having been doing a lot of work on brakes, knowing there had been a slight leak from the rear axle, finally topped it up to find it very low. Leak is from the rear axle mounting bracket, and the bracket itself has tiny holes. Clearly needs repair and replace. I'm...

Re: Flare nut spanner size wheel cylinders?
Thanks. I had considered that they are metric. Found the blowtorch, will try that tomorrow. First one wouldn't budge at all with medium force, doesn't bode well for the rest...

Re: Flare nut spanner size wheel cylinders?

Flare nut spanner size wheel cylinders?
Hi, can anyone tell me what size the flare nuts on the front/back wheel cylinders are likely to be on the 62 minor? I need to buy some spanners, I have an 11mm flare spanner that is just a little too big. First one I tried wouldn't budge. Trying to decide whether to persevere or find a mechanic.

Re: Very fast idle
Solved but not running for now.... Oddly the cable to the carb from accelerator was too tight. It hadn't been moved at all by me so pretty weird that. Now starter motor stuck engaged with flywheel so that's next job, starter out and check that over, check wiring etc to starter etc. Problems logging ...

Very fast idle
Hi, after suddenly conking out and waiting 3 hours for recovery I finally today managed to track down the faulty powerspark module inside the distributor. Managed to get her running but with stupid fast idle. Turned timing back a bit and it slowed, but awkward as running much too fast to leave it fo...
